Unpretentious stall which serves one of few long lost old school gems... lian chee suan!!The seeds were soft, powdery and fragrant ... mmmm!! very nice.. the syrup is also not too runny... and not a tad too sweet!! recommend!! The gooey consistency of the fragrant sweet soup is just nice and not too strachy!! love it!!A must try ...hidden gem in a hawker center!http://missmehhh.wordpress.com/2014/10/12/long-lost-dessert-lian-chee-suan/ continue reading

Lien Chee Suan has always been one of my favourite dessert.Currently a bowl of Lien Chee Suan (Lotus Seed dessert) cost S$3.00.Each time when I visited the Tampines Round Market and Food Centre, I will not fail to pack a bowl of Lotus Seed dessert as take-away.Its almost impossible to find a good Lotus Seed Dessert these days, either they are too sweet, too bland or too mushy.Of late, I noticed this stall standard of preparing Lotus Seeds has dropped, the lotus seeds are too soft and the dessert has become very sweet. The stall closes every Monday and Thursday.I was quite surprised that I was able to purchase a bowl of Lien Chee Suan around 11am, normally by early morning, this dessert would have been sold out.If you wish to prepare your own Lotus Seed Dessert, here's my recipe:http://sg.openrice.com/recipe/detail.htm?recipeid=410 continue reading

This stall sells really good quality desserts! Whenever I crave for a bowl of traditional dessert, I come here! I'm glad that this shop existed near my house! Their signature dessert is the Lotus Suan (Lian Chee Suan), which is the most expensive out of all! However, they gave a generous serving of lotus seeds which is worth it! They also sell a variety of other desserts such as Tau Suan, Cold Watermelon Ball, Sweet Potato Soup, Bubur Hitam, Black Sesame Paste, Cheng Tng etc. The watermelon balls were so juicy and there were so many of them! It is mixed with corns and crushed ice. Very light, sweet and refreshing! I love sweet potatoes and this was pure shiokness to have on a cold afternoon. continue reading

This shop sells cheap and good old traditional dessert. Most of the dessert cost less than $2. It is famous for Lian Chee Kang (lotus seed) which was sold out by the time we were there for lunch. I managed to get Black Glutinous Rice and Sweet Potato. I like that the dessert has the right level of sweetness. It has a variety of hot and cold dessert. Some of the dessert available are Cheng Tng, Black Glutinous Rice, Sweet Potato, and cold Watermelon Balls. continue reading
