Located at the junction of North Bridge Road and Haji Lane, I AM cafe is inspired by the city of Amsterdam. Owned by 3 Muslim friends, all preparation and ingredients are done in accordance to the Islamic way of guidance. This open space cafe serves hearty sandwiches, burgers, pastas, pizzas and fish and chips. WTheir Charcoal-grilled Juicy Beef Burger ($13.90) which comes with charcoal-grilled beef patty topped with pineapple, onions and melted cheese, is not bad. The patties are all painstakingly grilled over a charcoal-fuelled fire, and thus take a little more cooking time. It was juicy with consistent texture. Not much of a writer but I must say my friend and I were very satisfied with our food and with the service. I ordered a lamb shank and she a sloppy burger. They checked on us from time to time as to how the food is, and engaged in small talk when we were queuing as well as during the meal. Really loved their home-baked bread (they have their own bakery somewhere...) and they also do their own burger buns and hotdog buns! It is a pity there isn't air conditioning at the cafe. My friends and I were seated by the roadside and it was hot there. The area to queue is across Haji Lane and it is hard to spot if you are coming over from Arab street,There isn't much to choose from the menu. The dish 'I Am Salat' is average. The serving of salmon for the dish smoked Salmon is a quite a lot. The eggs Benedict was average. We ordered ice lemon tea, orange juice and bustramint. Definition of Café for me was rather accomplished, not only with luscious dessert but also proper dining cuisines. I found a unique one at North Bridge Road, it called “I Am”. Teasing name with fashionable design, lovely smell of brewing coffee was irresistible. Occupied not too huge spaces, it adopted alfresco concept. There was quite a lot of empty tables upon we arrived, ambiance was peaceful relaxing. Staff was attentive, Menu given to us promptly.Nobody birthday at the moment, candle was just an impromptu decoration. Photogenic and happy-looking, layer was paper-thin with unbelievable light. Not too sweet yet still delicious, Cake was a colourful syrupy art. Texture was fluffy, each stack was silky creamy and firm. After hearing countless reviews on I Am, I knew I had to pay this cafe a visit! Brought my friend along with me to eat their beautiful looking desserts!The cafe had an awkward queue system though. My friend and I had to queue in the walkway of the building opposite for a table. Both of us managed to get a table after 8 minutes or so. The cafe should consider expanding because it's really packed even though it's after lunch hour.Since it's al fresco dining (there's no air conditioner), the cafe is situated right beside the main road, which makes it quite dusty to dine in. Also, birds can enter the cafe and eat the leftovers left by the customers.We waited for quite a while for the drink and desserts to arrive. The drink took more than 10 minutes to be served to us. Looks like I Am has to do something with its manpower.Stir It Up is the chef's recommendation. However, my friend and I didn't like the drink at all. We didn't even finish half of the glass. Considering the fact that we shared one drink, this means that there's lots of room of improvements for the drink. The chocolate tasted was very mild; the milk overpowered the whole drink. Also, it had a cherry after taste (I assume it's from the red syrup drizzled over the whipped cream) which I didn't like because I don't like cherries in the first place. In the menu, it stated that the drink will be garnished with a whole cherry, and not drizzled with cherry syrup. At $6.90++ for a drink, it's totally not worth it.The Rainbow Mille Crepe Cake is definitely Instagram-worthy, but not money and calories-worthy. The crepe itself is kind of bland and tasteless. The chocolate syrup helped to make the crepe a little sweeter, but still, this cake is a huge disappointment. The crepe reminds me of the "Malay kueh" taste. Weird. Lady M does much better Mille Crepe than this at the same price. $8.90++ for a Mille Crepe that's done badly? Oh hell no!I like Red Velvets myself, so obviously this RV would be the highlight of this cafe trip. But still, it's not good enough to compensate the shortcomings of the drink and Mille Crepe. This cake is very rich and dense, which makes it very jelak to eat after a while. On top of that, the portion is extremely huge, so it'll be a struggle to finish such a dense cake by your own. Advisable to share with 3 people. The chocolate taste is very mild, and the frosting tasted more like ordinary buttercream than cream cheese. My friend and I was around the area and decided to dine here. It was pretty awkward as the queue was at the next building. Hard to tell if they were queueing for seat at the shop. But since we were smart, we deduce that people would not line up at there for nothing and that it had to be the queue for I AM. The waiting time was not as long as we had expected and pretty soon it was our turn. The waiter led us to a table and handed us the menu. We only wanted to try their cakes but their menu did not have them. We just looked at what was display and ordered what we wanted.The waitress took our order and we waited for our orders to arrive. After a very long time our drink- Stir It Up($6.90), finally arrive. Chocolate-milkey drink topped with whipped cream and maraschino cherry. Apparently this is one of their signature dish. I didn't llike the taste at all. It wasn't really chocolatey, more of a weird milky, minty, mild taste of cocoa kind of drink. The only nice about the drink is the oreo and cherry. Even the table next to us who ordered the drink did not like it. Next came the Scarlett Red Velvet Cake($8.90). The cake was quite dense and tasted a little like chocolate. The frosting was cream cheese. I think it's quite nice and it taste a lot better than the crepe.Lastly came the Rainbow Mille Crepe Cake($8.90). I think the crepe tasted quite plain. There was not much cream in between each layer. After walking and searching for 15min we finally saw the I.AM cafe ~ we ordered Rainbow Cake , Rainbow Crepes and two cocktails drink . Stir it up and also Honey Mooneythe environment of this cafe was really very good very suitable for people to chill out and to also slack there - the price was affordable as, such a big slice of the rainbow cake $7.90 and crepes cost like about the same price too. I am … is a café / bistro that just recently open near the popular Arab Street. Located off Haji Lane, facing the Golden Landmark Hotel. The founders' idea of I am are based on their love of Europe, especially Amsterdam. Thus they decided to import the atmosphere to Singapore with the concept of Halal European Influence Cafe.We actually found this place by accident while we were looking for a place to catch up with our group of friends on a Friday night. Apparently most of the café around the area either close by 11pm or the one that open late normally serve Nargile (Turkish water pipe) which we find a turn off especially as we don't smoke.So what attracted us to I am is that they open late, they served cakes and we also realised that they serve a extensive list of mocktails other than the regular coffee and tea based drinks. The mocktails are good for us as Little Devil and I are both on alcohol free diet temporary. For cakes, we had Rainbow cake and Chendol Cake ($8.90 each). Rainbow cake is one of the latest trend where the cake has seven different colour / layer with cream in between. Each slice of the cake looks attractive due to the bright colour in it. The Chendol cake is an interesting concept because it incorporated the local flavour into a cake. Both cakes scored in terms of the attractiveness and color, however we find both of the cake were slightly dry. The chendol on the chendol cake has also hardened, however the taste and flavour are still good. In fairness we had the cake around 11pm and the cakes must been there from opening this morning. For the mocktails we had Virgin Mojito, Twisted Sister and Ignite Sunset ($6.90 each). The virgin mojito has a clear and refreshing look to it. The combo of mint, tangy lime and syrup on ice really deliver the freshness. The twisted sister and ignite sunset has pomegranate in the mocktails giving the effect of sunset in the glass. Both mocktails deliver a more fruity freshness in the drinks.Service staff is very friendly and efficient. The décor of this place is actually quite simple with a lay back and relaxing atmosphere. The square tables can be easily group together when you are in a big group of separated when you are in the smaller one. Overall, we find “I am …” is a good place for you to catch up with your friends any time during the day. The mocktails are excellent while the cakes can be improve. Although this place is still young, it has the ingredients to be a successful café.
