I am big fan of noodle and this food centre is a regular hangout for nice noodle. There are quite a few fishball noodle stalls in this food centre and this is one of them. I ordered a regular serving of mee pok for $2.50. It came with a bowl of soup consists of fishball and fishcake. They cooked the mee pok well to give it a springiness and not too soft in texture. They are very generous with the amount of mee pok given. continue reading

There are quite a few newspapers clippings displayed at their stall thus i ordered this with a higher expectation. I am a crazy fan of teo chew style fishball noodle and that was my reason to order a $3.00 rather than a $2.50 one. As per default, i requested for extra chilli to be added. Waited for about 10 minutes or so before i gotten it delivered to my table. My usual habit is to taste the soup first. Apparently that was where the disappointment set in. The soup was lukewarm. I always expected it to be hot just like my regular noodle stall at Mayflower Food Centre. Next, i tossed the mee pok well. First mouthful happened to be the next disappointment. It did not have a distinct chilli taste, perhaps they might have forgotten my special request of extra chilli. The next disappointment was the slices of lean meat in the soup, the slices of lean meat were rather tough perhaps due to overcooking. It served along with a full prawn and half slice of prawn as well as slices of fishcake and 2 fishballs. I seriously expected it to be good. Those newspaper clippings might be long overdued thus there is a significant drop in their standard now? Or, today might be their off day or maybe they were trying hard to cope with the number of orders as i happened to come by during their busiest period?Anyway, there is another stall selling fishball noodle just a couple of stalls away from this one. And that particular stall served better standard fishball noodle than this based on my last experience. continue reading

Soup was acceptable (no msg). environment was clean (no left over plates), no people queuing when i was there around 11+am, auntie was friendly. overall: happy lunch! continue reading
