Look at the photo, will u believe this came from a hawker centre? It is exactly what I thought when I first saw their dishes. Due to my job I eat at changi village quite often, and I think this is one of the low profile (compared to many other super famous ones) but nonetheless nice stall over there. The stall is run by a couple. Usually the lady pan-fry the meat and egg, while the uncle take orders, fry the fries, prepare salad that accompany the meat. You should see how the uncle prepare the artwork-esque salad. He will carefully pick the red and green lettuce leaves and put them at bottom, then the lolla rosso/frisee/baby beet greens/whatever greens they have, then some cherry tomatoes on top of the salad, with salad dressings. If the cherry tomatoes fall from the greens to the plate, he will put them up again to make sure the salad looks good. Also, I always change my fries into rice (fries are too heaty imo), and the uncle will always make sure the rice is placed properly, and black sesame was sprinkled on top of rice. This is what I like about them: meticulous attitude when it comes to food preparation. The fries are always freshly fried upon order.Personally my favorite is salmon teriyaki (7.5 dollars) which has rather generous servings. The salmon is nicely pan-fried, thick and juicy. Most of the time I order pork chopthough because it is cheaper (5.9 dollars). The pork chop is a bit tough but still ok for me. I saw many people order garlic chicken and fish and chip as well. The queue takes time because they prepare their food in a slow (but proper) way. Usually to avoid waiting long, I will go there before lunch crowd arrives. continue reading
