I ordered the Masala Dosai while my friend ordered the Poori from Komala's at Little India.First off i must say that the portions were HUGE! My friend and i had great difficulties finishing both items on our own. Aside from that, I really enjoyed the Poori and i find it quite interesting to pair it with the curries and sauces. The dough was fragrant although abit oily.My Masala dosai had a slight sourness to it, not my favourite but perhaps for someone with preference for it. continue reading

As we have a new Indian colleague on board, my boss thought that it would be a good idea to have a team lunch a Komala to welcome the new girl and help her fit into the team. I decided for once, to forgo my favorite Coke and go for a typical Indian drink. So I chose lassi. This is a very sweet yoghurt drink. Different from the magnolia type but I like. I have a sweet tooth so I'll tend to fall in love with anything sweet. But I don't often take stuffs that are too sweet. However, this is the exception. For main course, I ordered the onion dosai. Didn't manage to finish the dish coz it's just too big piece. And there's a whole lot of onions in there. But it was very good value for money. Also, we find the service staff very friendly and helpful continue reading

I've been patronizing this little South Indian Vegetarian Restaurant in Little India since poly days, although I do not go there on a regular basis, I do like to bring my friend there and whenever I find any reason to go there. This restaurant has been around since 1947 and has been popular with the local Indian and non-Indian populations alike!I've always ordered the same thing when I dine there: The South Indian Vegetarian MealThe South Indian Vegetarian Meal cost about $6.70 and it’s an all-you-can-eat free refill for rice and all the accompanying dishes. I rarely go beyond the first serving as you can see; they do tend to give a lot of rice! I've no idea what goes inside those little side dishes but they are all wonderfully cooked with lots of Indian spices. They are not very hot but with lots of flavor! There's even a small cup of soup and a ginger sago dessert that goes with it. continue reading

I had gone shopping to Little India today & walked into Komalas to have a snack. This was my first ever visit to Komalas. As I walked in, I noticed a lot of people dining there even at 4PM. The ambiance is basic & similar to any Indian restaurant. I ordered for a Samosa. It was served immediately. It was served hot, it had an awesome potato filling, really tasty, the outside, was nice & crisp & it served with some yummy chutney. I also ordered for a sweet lassi, which was really nice & refreshing,on a hot sunny day & went well with the samosa. continue reading
