This is the other outlet of my favourite Chicken Rice at Waterloo Street. I have been faithfully supporting that particular stall all these years but this was my first time patronising this stall in this food centre.I was there right after lunch but there was still a queue of few people right at this stall. There is a menu board displayed right in front of the stall. I went for my usual order of half a roasted chicken with 3 packets of rice to take away. The total cost was $12.50 as compared to the $16.50 for exactly the same items over at their stall at Waterloo Street. I guess the rental of the coffee shop where the other stall is located might be the main reason for such a difference in price. The roasted chicken was served with their special soya sauce. It was poured right in even for taking away. They packed the slices of cucumber and bits of coriander separately in a plastic bag. It was served with a small packet of chilli that might not be quite enough for half a roasted chicken. The chilli tasted similar too with just the right spiciness to complement the taste of roasted chicken. I attempted to compare the both stalls. I would think the taste was quite alike but the special soya sauce of this stall was slightly saltier. The roasted chicken was nicely deep-fried to give the full flavor to its skin and tasted succulent. The breast part tasted as good too. The texture of the rice was of the equally good standard. It still tasted grainy, fragrant and not greasy even after left it for a couple of hours. This chicken rice might not be amongst those famous ones out there but its taste is definitely of above average. It definitely worth a try if you happen to be in this food centre for lunch. continue reading
