Signature Dishes
The lobby lounge of the hotel offers Traditional English High Tea daily from 2pm to 5pm at $30++ per person. It is quite popular during the weekends and one has to make reservations a couple of months ahead. The dining in area is quite open and some may mistake the area as rest area for hotel guests.For the high tea, one is allowed to select hot drinks from the Tea and Coffee selection from the Menu unlimited.Caffe Latte ($9.75)It tastes not bad although it is a bit acidic to me.Sencha Matsuri ($9.50)Among the selection of green tea, this one has the strongest in depth taste.Good Morning Black Tea ($9.50)The tea is served with milk and sugar sticks by the side. It tastes like breakfast tea.The food is served in a 3-tier stand and is continuously replenished.Served with clotted cream and berry and citrus preserves.The top tier consists of raisin scones and madeleines, which I like is served pipping hot.The center tier consists of assortment of petite French macarons, freshly baked cupcakes, mini fruit tarts, butter tea cakes, mini donuts, mini cakes and chocolates. The bottom tier consists of dainty finger sandwiches, mini chicken pies, mini mushroom pies, mini quiches and mini curry pies.It happens that one of us is a vegetarian and is served spinach quiche.Although the range of food looks limited, but everyone has own favourites. Like little JJ who keeps asking for refill for chocolates with molten center.Overall the food is quite filling and time passes quite fast while dining in there.
