Signature Dishes
I ordered this chocolate cake after came across a few reviews dated in 2009. I thought the standard is still the same. I went to collect the cake after my dinner. I am a chocolate cake lover but this one is really not nice. The cake did not taste like freshly baked, it is like the leftover from previous day. The chocolate has not much chocolate taste and too sweet. I will not order again.

It was quite a challenge to locate the shop though it is just within walking distance from Khatib MRT. The exact location is just a few shops away from the coffee shop where my favourite tze cha stall - Happy Kampong is located. The shop space is shared with a shop selling different types of drinks and snacks. So, it might be an easy target to be missed out. The shop is manned by a Chinese speaking lady single-handedly. If you look carefully enough, there is a little signboard with 'Baker's Creation' printed on it at the top right hand corner right outside the shop.I was there to collect the Walnut Dark Chocolate Cake that i ordered via email using an acquired voucher. It was a 1 kg dark chocolate cake that came coated with a layer of dark chocolate then topped with quite a few whole walnuts. I was excited to cut it upon gotten home. Then, i realised the layer of chocolate was rather dry. It even cracked into pieces when i sliced it. After my first bite, it was a total disappointment. The chocolate tasted of artificial sweetness with only a slight chocolate taste. It did not have the bitterness that a dark chocolate should have. The texture of the sponge cake was equally dry.I left the cake unfinished and discarded it. I guess this is most likely another one time off experience.

As Streetdeal was having a promotion for Apple Pie from Baker's Creation, I decided to purchase the voucher to try it out. I had problems conversing with the staff over the phone to make reservations as she was not fluent with the English language.However, staffs at the outlet appeared to be friendly when I went down for the collection. The apple pie came as a whole and was enough for 3-5 people. The crust was flaky which made the pastry crispy on the outside. There was a generous serving of apple filling in the pie and it was oozing out as I sliced the pie into pieces for the rest of the family.I reserved several compliments on the generous filing, flaky pastry as well which just melts in your mouth. It was also not as sweet as many of the other apple pie's I have had in the past which made it an ideal healthy snack!
