This is a very easy to miss shop, if not for the GPS. We would've driven right past this shop. There are a few parallel parking HDB car park spots along the road. These brownies look amazing and at $2.70-$3 per slice. I think it makes a great party idea! Although what are brownies without ice cream? So Melvados strategically placed the ice creams across from the brownies. At $8 per pint, it's not the priciest, but I had t coerce myself into not reaching in to grab a Green Tea ice cream. The chocolate lava cakes are like candy to a fat kid for me! I wanted them all for myself. The second you walk into Melvados, you immediately know that it is a cake wholesaler, just from the sheer numbers of cookies and cakes surrounding you! Here's the bill for my sweet obsession. The instructions for the chocolate and durian lava cakes were the same.Thaw 1hr, microwave 17-18 seconds on high.1. Chocolate Lava Cake (8 for $20)The chocolate lava oozed out immediately after I had cut into it. It was so bitter sweet. I devoured it and felt guilty about the calories I had consumed, but at the same time I wanted another. I cannot imagine paying $10 for a lava cake with ice cream, when I can just do this in front of my TV and enjoy it all for myself!2. Durian Lava Cake (6 for $16)The durian lava cake was a dissappointment. We made it twice to check if we had done the instructions wrong. Nope. We prepared it the same way we prepared the chocolate lava cake, but the durian lava cake was cooked right through. NO LAVA! It was so upsetting. Not to mention, it was too darn sweet. I only managed to ead 3/4 of it and threw away the rest and within 30 minutes, my dustbin was swarmed with an army of ants. That's how sweet it was!! continue reading
