For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comHaving a fair bit of history in the baking industry, Ng Kim lee Confectionery is one of the popular old school Confectionery in Singapore. With so many modernize and cafes sprouting up everywhere, they are still standing firm at where they are located in Chun Tin Road.Besides the old school pastries and cakes a traditional Confectionery can provide, Ng Kim Lee has it all. Not only that, they are not just limited to the pandan chiffon, walnut, butter cake and traditional looking black forest cakes etc. In fact, they have a wide range of variety which includes cheese cakes suitable for patrons with different category of cravings. The Kaya pandan cake comes proportionally in 2 shades of green, with the base color as the darker shade. Taste of the kaya was very mild but still the pandan fragrance and soft spongy feel makes this traditional piece of cake stand up on its own. The muffins price was affordable at 50 cents per piece and was quite well known. Out of the 12 flavours, Banana flavour was mentioned as the best flavour. It was about a baby palm's size with 2 shades of color, brown and a lighter brown/yellow. Each muffin was dressed up in a mini star edged aluminum foil and looks cute. They had a pleasant fragrance with distinctive banana fibers in the muffins. continue reading

Beautiful cakes!!!! taste wise.. soft and fluffy... and many flavours!! (which is hard to come by).And... cheap.. $0.90 for a piece!! Other shops are selling easily $1-1.20 per piece You will see many different colours of cakes there, and they are flavoured, it's not just colouring!Cake is very soft even after taking out from the fridge. As for the cream they are ok.. a little oily but what to expect from  cream cake right? They also have packages for guo da li.. not forgetting they sell traditional teochew biscuits toohttp://missmehhh.wordpress.com/2014/10/12/guo-da-li-cakes-ng-kim-lee/ continue reading

I love old school bakeries and I knew I had to check out this confectionery after reading reviews about it online! They are popular for their mini muffins, cheesecakes and the zebra cake! I really like how they store their mini muffins in this tall display counter! I got the lemon, chocolate, strawberry, banana, orange, mango, pandan and coffee flavoured muffins! I ate the Zebra cake on the spot and love the infused mixture of pandan, chocolate and vanilla! I find it really unique and a must-try when you visit this bakery! For the mini muffins, my favourite is banana, pandan and coffee! The rest of the flavours were bland and tasted quite similar to each other. I also takeaway the Brownie cheesecake and a slice of Durian cake! There is a wide range of cheesecakes like German cheesecake, Strawberry cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake, Italian cheesecake and many many more! I find myself literally spoilt for choice! The mousse cake slices are only priced at $2 each which is so much cheaper compared to elsewhere! The brownie cheesecake is yummy while the durian cake is average. I will definitely be back! continue reading

For over 60 years, Ng Kim Lee Confectionery has been baking traditional Teochew, Hainanese and Western style cakes and pastries. What loyal long-time customers of Ng Kim Lee Confectionery like is their nearly consistent taste and quality all these years, along with their relatively cheap prices.Ambience at Ng Kim Lee Confectionery is like stepping into a time capsule... The shop looks virtually unchanged since the 1960s. Bright fluorescent lights illuminate the chinese style patterned tiled floor and the rows of baked goods displayed in shelves and large clear glass cabinets. Part of the appeal of Ng Kim Lee Confectionery is the enticing aroma of baking goods which you can smell from along the street!Service at Ng Kim Lee Confectionery is warm and friendly, the elderly couple and family still man the place. While they can be fast and efficient, it also helps to decide what you what before ordering, to prevent holding up the queue. All orders are takeaway, as Ng Kim Lee Confectionery doesn't have any seating.Specialties at Ng Kim Lee Confectionery include their Pandan Cake, Cheesecake, Egg Tarts, Muffins, Yam Cake and Zebra Cake. Their traditional pastries like Husband / Wife Biscuits or Pineapple Tarts are pretty good too. Prices are quite cheap, expect to pay around SGD $1 or less per slice of cake. continue reading

Since I started working at Bukit Timah, this confectionery has been my saviour - whenever I'm looking for a quick bite with no time to waste waiting for food to be preparedMy number 1 favorite from this bakery is their Chicken Pie, for only $1.50!Its a tummy filler for those of us in a rush, they also have other varieties such as chicken and mushroom/ tuna/ curry etc. I have yet to try the rest as I know that the Chicken pie will certainly not disappoint meSo if u happen to be in the neighborhood and in need of a quick bite, this is the place continue reading
