I usually visit Old Chang Kee between noon to evening time for their chicken wings and curry puffs as normal, but never knew they actually serve such a decent breakfast spread, until I walked by this stall one day (located in a prime spot). Most of their breakfast (mee siam, porridge, bee hoon, etc) cost only between $1.50-$2.00, and sells really fast, so expect breakfast choices to run out if you reach there after 9am.Bee Hoon + 1 vege side dish, $1.70I wouldn't say the price is cheap considering it's only plain bee hoon and a simple vege side dish, but nowadays most food choices cost over $2.50 and considering this place is located in a part of a shopping centre, I'd say it's probably reasonably affordable for me to pay less than $2 for a good breakfast.Requested for some fried shallots and chilli - my secret to turning this from a plain breakfast to a good one. continue reading

Other than their signature curry puffs, Old Chang Kee now turn it's attention to their morning patrons by introducing their wide spread of breakfast menu, selling mainly local favorites to the people working and live around the area.Their daily breakfast menu consist of Porridge with You Tiao set, Mee Siam (with gravy packed separately), Nasi Lemak (choose from chicken, otak or ikan kuning), fried beehoon, assorted kuehs, chee cheong fun and their normal fried food.Tiong Bahru Plaza's OCK is located at the prime spot where it is facing the road and very near to the bus stop. Their breakfast menu is till 11am if i am not wrong. I'll always get their porridge if my bus is still nowhere in sight. Love their You Tiao as it still remains its crispiness even though i didnt eat it right immediately. Their porridge tasted normal, but sometime it can get a bit salty. Tried their mee siam also and it taste good on its own even without the gravy. One thing i dislike is the counter aunties tend to take their own sweet time to pack your orders. can get quite annoying especially when you are rushing for your bus that is turning in to your bus stop in less than a minute. continue reading

The economic fried bee hoon is not really economic as compared to others stall. I like their ngoh hiang but the last piece was ordered by the customer in front of me. Sad.... Hence, i ordered their luncheon meat. The luncheon meat is like paper thin. It costs me $1.80 for just a bee hoon and a paper thin luncheon meat slice. Normally the staff will give spring onion and a packet of chili. But none of them are giving to me for that day and i realised it only when i reach the office. continue reading
