Polar Puff was having a Nets Flashpay promotion where you can get a free sugar roll with $3.00 purchase so I decided to get some of their pastries for myself and to share with the family. I went on a weekday evening. The stall at Causeway Point is actually just a kiosk so there is no seating area, just display counters. While it was clean when I went, I was disappointed to see that the display counter for the savoury pastries like the pies was really bare. There was only curry puff available for sale and one chicken pie left. However, the lady who served me was very friendly and kept smiling throughout the transaction. Despite feeling unhappy about the lack of choices, I ended up feeling pacified enough to buy a few items!I always like their Chicken Pie ($2.20) so I got that last piece for myself. The chicken pie had chicken pieces, potatoes and mixed vegetables such as peas and carrots in it. As usual, the pie was flaky and the chicken filling inside was very tender and tasty. This pie is definitely a must-try item on Polar Puff's menu. Best eaten hot!I also love chocolate eclairs so I also got the Chocolate Eclair ($1.70). It was a bit of a disappointment though. The cream, while light and airy, was tasteless. The chocolate was also too hard and and didn't combine well with the pastry and cream when eaten. I thought $1.70 was a bit expensive for it.I also got the Custard Puff ($1.40) which fared slightly better than the eclair. The pastry was soft and the custard was just the right consistency for me, but overall, it was still a tad bland.Next was the Strawberry Roll ($1.30). I was surprised that this tasted better than I expected. The roll was very soft and fluffy and had strawberry jam in it. Surprisingly, it was not too cloyingly sweet and was just the right amount of sweetness for me.In contrast, the free Sugar Roll (U.P. $1.20) was a tad sweet for me, although it was as soft as the strawberry roll. I think it was because of the sugar icing on it. They also have the non-sugar icing version, so if you don't like the roll to be too sweet, I'd suggest opting for the other version. Overall, I like their savoury pies better and I'd recommend trying at least the chicken pie. If you are craving for something sweet from Polar Puff, then go for the rolls instead. Prices are pretty reasonable except for a few items which I thought were a little pricey considering the design and taste. continue reading

This was my colleague surprise cake from us...The design is very cute! As for the cake, it's too sweet and hard but definitely a convenient and pleasant cake to surprise one's birthday. Pies sold at Polar are also delicious and flavorful, especially their chicken pie, filled with tasty chicken filling, the chicken pies are a must try and their sweet pastries like sugar rolls. continue reading

I always think one of the better chicken pie found here but the standard has since dropped a little. The filling in the pie is quite little. See my picture. It would taste even nicer if they are more generous with the filling in the pie like chunks of chicken meat. I hardly taste any chicken in the pie. The crust still tasted fluffy and light. Nice to have it with coffee. continue reading

I was attracted by the criss cross design for their apply tarts and decided to buy it for my colleagues to try. Unfortunately these apple tarts are not towards our likings. Firstly it is abit too sweet for the apple cubes fillings and the sticky sauce in it is also not really that tasty. The pastry crusts are also not really that crunchy and also quite plain in flavour. Even though the price is quite reasonable, but still because the taste of it does not suit me, I will not be back again to buy it. continue reading

polar puffs are one of my favourites. costing from 1.20 - 1.60. its cheap and tastypastry can be a little thick but flavour is good - curry is spicy and fillings are generous with egg slices , peas, and potato chunks in it are huge.they have a few variety, including vegetarian puffs staff was a little nonchalant , had to call her a few times before she came to serve me. continue reading
