Saw recommendation from Open Rice and decided to give a try. Have to wait for quite long (more than 30 minutes) due to Vesak Day but the food worth the wait. They do offer quite a wide variety of food but several dishes were sold out, probably because of Vesak Day. So decided to come again another day to try out other dishes when it is less crowded. saw that the crispy duck (vegetarian) looks nice.

Beautifully presented with the dressing of cucumber and tomato, it looked seemingly to the normal one. “Fried Chicken” was crispy, coated well by fluffy skin. Rice was in good-scented, delicious even eating it plainly. Entire became perfect when adding dashes of lime chilli sauce, I finished it up within minutes. The meal costed me $5.00, relatively cheap indeed.

Rice House is one of the best value for money, and taste wise, one of the best places for vegetarian food. When you are looking for something healthy but still tasty, go for the carrot porridge; topped with mock minced meat, which adds flavour to the porridge, and braised peanuts, which are good to go with porridge as well. Thinly sliced carrots are also added to the porridge. Do try their fried tofu with thai chilli sauce and mushroom noodles.

This is my favourite vegetarian food place so far, and has been for a couple of years. Located among HDB blocks, this place is a rare find. They offer very affordable vegetarian food, and constantly come up with new creations - I have never seen such wide variety of different dishes which are all vegetarian. Who says vegetarian food must be bland? I love the fried chicken (made from beancurd), or "yan su ji", which is absolutely delicious. Also try their mock chicken cutlet rice - equally tasty.

This vegetarian eatery is highly recommended by my brother in-law, & finally I had the chance to join them for dinner at this eatery located near a temple in Geylang East on a Saturday evening. I was told that if monks come here to eat, it would be free of charge for them. It was considered early for dinner (6pm) but the eatery was almost full. Here's how the food were:Spicy tomato soup ($3.50)This was served in a big bowl with lots of beancurd & tomatoes in the slightly spicy soup. Very tasty!

Here's how the food were:

Spicy tomato soup ($3.50)

This was served in a big bowl with lots of beancurd & tomatoes in the slightly spicy soup. Very tasty! There is no MSG after-taste too

Sheng Mian 生面 ($3.50)

The serving was huge! A lot of noodles heaped with caixin, carrots and mushrooms on a big plate. My sister had trouble finishing the whole plate. I tried some & it was great too.

XO Mushroom Noodle XO 香菇炸酱面 ($3.50)

The noodle is actually like banmian, and well mixed with a special XO sauce which had a tinge of spiciness. Shiok! It didn't feel vegetarian at all, just like the usual minced meat noodle (but without the real meat) hehe.
But one can barely finish the big plate, esp for ladies....

Wholemeal noodles ($3.50)

This is the main dish we ordered that felt the healthiest haha. It was clear soup wholemeal noodles, banmian style. Again the serving was huge. I like it that they made the mocked ikan bilis (think it tasted like mushrooms) and bits of mocked minced meat.
The noodles really tasted like wholemeal too!

Deep fried beancurd in Thai sweet chili sauce

When still hot from the kitchen, the beancurd were really nice & crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside. With the Thai sauce as the dip, I felt like it was a perfect match.

Ngor Hiang & Mocked Sotong Balls

The Ngor Hiang ($5) didn't taste tat good. They were thin & not really suited for my palate. However, we love the mocked Sotong Balls ($3)! It felt like the real sotong ball, very Q.

This is definitely a worthy vegetarian place to visit if u enjoy vegetarian food. It serves so many different types of dishes, that I think you can try a different dish everyday without repeating your order for a few weeks hehe. What's more, the prices are very reasonable for the amount they serve, and it's quality food being served. 4 of us were so full after eating so much.

What more can you ask for?
