I always order curry chicken nasi biryani because I love curry and chicken is the safest option and it is easy to eat too. I like mutton also but the portion is usually very small and I rather have the chicken. I have never ordered fish biryani for myself before as I dislike taking the trouble to remove the bones etc. I decided to try Curry Fish biryani for the first time but when I opened up my packet, the fish portion is so small as compared to the amount of rice! A close-up view of the fish. Although the size is small, the taste of the fish is nice and the bones are actually quite easy to remove as it's all in the middle part. Between mutton and fish, I prefer fish but chicken is still the best! ^^ continue reading

Saffron’s Cafetaria is an Indian fast food restaurant that serves many Indian dishes including their famousChicken Nasi Biryani. Owned by Madam Kadder Beevi founded in 1995 also known as Madam Bee by her employees.I managed to get her permission to take some snapshots of her restaurant. They also provide buffet catering services known as Bee Catering Services. Now they have even taken over the next door shop with additional seating areas for customers. There are many good Nasi Biryani outlets in Singapore and I have just found one that really soothe my palate none other than the Nasi Biryani from Saffron’s Cafetaria. Opened 24 hours daily. The authentic well cooked long grain basmati rice with a buttery fragrant and charcoal cooked taste. No need to travel to Arab Street for Biryani anymore.Served with a generous portion of chicken meat topped with the non too strong saffron taste rice. This Chicken Biryani Rice is served with a small amount of Archar (Pickles).Though the colour of the rempah seemed hot, the delicate handful of spices is not too spicy hot and has a good aromatic blending of flavours.I was early for lunch arriving at 11.15 am otherwise you may have to queue and the stretch of queue can take up to almost three shops long at peak hours. For this take away I paid S$6.50. continue reading

Happened to be at the east area during late lunch and my friend brought me to Saffron's Cafeteria. The late lunch crowds is still alright.Ordered the the nasi mutton biryani($5.50) and has been warned about the spicy curry sauce. The stall helper put the curry mutton first then follow by the rice on top. There is seasoned cucumbers for appetizer and a small plate of curry. The first taste of the curry is still alright until a few more mouthful,i started to ask for teh tarik as the spiciness is quite unbearable. continue reading

If you want something not really fulling but gives you a kick in the stomach especially on cold rainy night! You would want to do this..Bring your butt to Saffron's @ Tampines.. Go up to the fella who takes the order.. tell him "Handsome, one prata kosong and prata with egg KUAH CAMPUR with sambal kay & a Teh Tarik"Ask for take-away. Saffron's always crowded anyways! Their food is that good! Simple but the best in town. So you get home and you will find your prata soaked with spicy fish curry and a generous serving of sambal on the side. Prata is beautifully deliciously wet and soaked and just makes it so much better to devour!! Their curry is spicy! I cant recall any prata shop with a spicy fish curry for prata.. This is just shiok! Damn shiok! Please wash it down with a warm teh tarik!! Simplicity at its best ;)Okay I'm drooling! Shall get me another one now! continue reading

This place has one of the best pratas in the East. It's open 24 hours but yet is very full especially at nights, all throughout the night. The dishes to die for here are the prata. Cheese especially. Even plain or just egg is nice. However, do not forget the chilli. They have just recently expanded by buying over the adjacent shop and now they have an additional branch somewhere. continue reading
