Decor within Sakon Thai is overtly Thai inspired. From paintings to sculptures, tapestry to signage, everything here reminds you that you're dining in a Thai restaurant, right down to the tissue holders. Sakon Thai has pretty comfortable and large furniture, though the layout of the place is rather cramped. Opt to sit outside where it's cooler. I also dislike the harsh orange lighting of the place.

Service at Sakon Thai is average. Staff aren't very friendly, and some don't understand English. Utensils seem to be poorly washed, which was noted on repeated visits. You're advised to use the tissue provided to wipe the utensils down first. Staff also sometimes spill a little gravy / soup when placing dishes on the table. But food does come relatively quickly even during peak periods.

Food at Sakon Thai is authentic Thai, though some dishes stand out above the rest. Quality is not consistent through the menu, and dishes that are more popular tend to be slightly more tasty and well prepared, as compared to other dishes which may not be ordered so often. Ingredients used are fresh, especially the vegetables and seafood, which is a plus point.

Prices of food at Sakon Thai is quite cheap, and an overall meal may only cost less than SGD $20 per person. Visit Sakon Thai for the food, and close an eye to the service and gaudy ambience.

Green curry - First time trying green curry and it does not taste too bad despite it color. It does not lose to the normal curry that we eat. But however, it is not as spicy as the normal curry as i thought it will be XD.

Sweet and sour fish - Love it! Even though it is more to sour but it can whets my appetites to eat more !

Tucked away in a private housing estate, Sakon Thai is a Thai-theme restaurant with both indoor and outdoor sheltered seats. There is a wide variety of Thai dishes - from noodles, soups, rice to desserts and beverages.

This Honey Chicken was the first to come. Honey is not a easy ingredient to use in cooking. Pour it in too early and it gets burnt easily. Pour it in too late, and the taste does not soak into the meat. The chicken skin was lightly crispy, yet the dish was doused with a healthy sheen due to the richness of the honey....

What's Thai food with the staple Tom Yum Soup? There are two versions here - red or clear. The Tom Yum is strong enough to zap up your nose and zing your ears!

Balancing a meal requires some vegetables. For a variety of greens, try this Mixed Vegetables. Unlike the oily zichar version, it was so crunchy and fragrant with the fried garlic bits that Merlion Wayfarer nearly ordered another serving...

To balance off the tasty dishes, it was time to order something sweet. What's better than the Thai Glutinous Rice topped with Durian and the Mango version? The Durian version was a bit mild and more expensive at $6 per portion, but the Mango version was just right at $4 with the right amount of coconut milk and fragrant honey mango. Slurp!

Sakon Thai Food place at Jalan Wangi served up a very nice sticky rice dessert. The durian and mango versions of the traditional Thai dessert were done well at this Sakon Thai Restaurant! Yummy and sweet. The durian version slightly better than mango version. Anyway, both very nice. Mrupupup took a picture of the sticky rice, have a look and enjoy the picture!

I like the good, authentic and affordable Thai food here. We ordered green curry, which was very rich and had tender bits of chicken. Definitely whets your appetite! We also had their specialty soft shell crab which was very delicious. The soft shell crab was fresh and good and it was generously slathered in this egg based curry gravy that isn't too spicy but give the dish an additional flavour pop. They were also very generous with the onion and coriander garnishing.Overall I enjoyed my meal ex

I really dono want to order what dish,so i decide to order one very nomal dish.Seafood fried rice.It is quite huge in size, and it cost only $5.The fried rice is not bad, taste normal, but the ingredient is quite limited. It just has prawn, sotong and egg.The rice is also quite dry, really need to drink water during eating.Im quite disappointed about it,i thought there will be more seafood like crab meat or others. But nevermind,as this is a first try,i wont comment much.
