Happy National Day Singapore! It was an evening packed with people from all walks of life, different ages, and thus making the coffeeshop extremely crowded and we kind of expected our orders to be coming in late, but much to our pleasant surprise we only had to wait about 20-30 minutes!By the way, just a heads up, the ice-lemon tea in this coffeeshop is extremely sour and thick.Food Loft is about 10 minutes walk away, and it's really worth the journey! This deep fried chicken ($8) had well, less than 10 pieces, and it was rather juicy. My mum calls this 'ha jiong gai', not sure what dialect it is but the marinate and the crispiness was quite delicious! The sauce goes well with the image below, i don't know what they call it in English, it probably had a little prawn and some mushy-mashy stuff in it. In chinese if i'm not wrong its' called 'xia b ing', and in direct translation it means prawn biscuit! This cost $9! There was a layer of crispiness around it!We also ordered fish head curry ($22) and it really worked our taste buds out, not because of its' spiciness in fact, there was hardly any level or traces of chilli in it. There were no fishy smell and it was very fragrant!what's a meal without entertainment especially watching NDP as a family eh!This tie pan tou fu (costing $8) (hotplate tofu) is yummy with the eggs, but the prawns that were on it was not fresh (it had a strange smell and tasted a little weird). it came piping hot and i love hot stuff! they were gracious with the gravy as well. well, overall the waiters/waitresses were still very friendly with their service despite the business that they had ona public holiday. i was quite disappointed with their utensils though, their spoons and forks had stains and worst of all, the coffeeshop chairs had bird shit all over it, we had to pull about 2 or 3 chairs before finding the 'cleaner' ones! continue reading

This place is rather packed during dinner especially on weekends, but we were quick to find a table as there was only 3 of us. We ordered their sweet potato leaves, prawn paste chicken and hot plate tofu. The food took quite long to come. The sweet potato leaves was quite nice as their sambal was very spicy and nice. The hot plate tofu was rather normal like anywhere else but their prawn paste chicken is also thumbs up for me. I would definitely come back next time again to try the rest of the other dishes here. continue reading

Very big portion, however it was because the chef cooked wrongly. The claypot noodle consists of cabbage, fish cake, two eggs and some sliced meat. The noodle is very chewy and QQ, however the way they served looks like they are not serving human beings. The gravy with the fried garlic taste is very nice and fragrant. continue reading
