I used to think that Texas Chicken had the best fried chicken (in the fast food chain category). Firstly, the chicken meat seems to have shrunk in size. The mash potato is also soso...I thought it used to be quite good. However, the biscuit is still quite good and the chicken meat quality and texture is still way better than KFC'S and Popeye's. It's smooth, moist and tender. However I think they can still improve their fried chicken batter to make it more tasty.

This is the newest outlet of Texas Chicken. I was there and wanted to redeem a voucher for a set of 8 pieces Chicken Combo. I presented the voucher. Steph, the counter staff inspected the voucher. I was then told by her that this voucher could not be used at this particular outlet as this outlet is newly opened and they do not have such a key on their POS. Steph, the counter staff inspected the voucher. I was told that the redemption is now possible.

I was given the selection of spicy and original version of chicken to choose. I was also asked to choose amongst the mashed potato, coleslaw and fries as side dishes. I wanted the spicy chicken with mashed potato and coleslaw. It served along with 4 pieces of biscuits too.

These biscuits tasted surprisingly good. In fact, it is even nicer than those from Popeyes'. It tasted slightly sweeter and rather moist with a slight buttery taste. It tasted good even if eaten on its own. I used to eat those from Popeyes' with the mashed potato.

The chicken pieces are rather big in sizes as compared to its competitors. The drumsticks are much bigger too. These chicken were nicely fried to give it a likable crispiness with a desired juiciness within. And, it did not taste overly oily too. This was my second time eating their fried chicken and i did not expect such a good quality fried chicken. I was invited to their event the first time and ended up having their fried chicken with their special chilli powder then so not able to taste it well.

The Coleslaw that came with the combo tasted good too. It mainly consists of fresh tasting cabbage and carrot. It tasted refreshing and it makes eating the fried chicken a little less sinful too.

The mashed potato tasted nice too though it might not be as nice as those from Popeyes'.

Though i did not quite expect it but i really enjoyed the fried chicken.
