This restaurant diagonally opposite Starbucks is popular for affordable priced local and Taiwanese zichar dishes. We dropped by for a quick dinner en route to Changi Airport. The staff are polite and our dishes were served within 10 minutes after we had placed our orders. Portions are small, just nice for a couple, and with most items under $10, it is alright to order more dishes for sharing. The double boiled chicken soup $9.50 was full of home cooked goodness with a few meaty pieces of meat cooked till tender, shredded dried conpoy, a couple of red dates and lots of wholesome wolfberries. I was relieved Asian Kitchen serves snakehead fish instead of mushy & bland dory. We had the poached sliced fish in soya sauce $9.50 which was rather bland as a dinner ate had a sore throat. The crispy sliced fish would have tasted better. The reunion tofu pot comprising egg tofu with mixed vegetables $7.90 was another home style dish served in the tiniest claypot I've ever seen. The sautéed sweet potato leaves $8.50 were tender and cooked just right.I liked the cheesily named reunion omelette $7.90 which was full of sliced Taiwanese sausages and shelled shrimps. This was perfect with plain rice which was served piping hot. Dinner for three adults inclusive of free flow of Chinese tea left us with change for $60. continue reading
