Signature Dishes
Had a simple fast lunch at this Toast Box outlet. The price is quite reasonable at $6.10 per set which include a glass of hot barley and a bowl of laksa. Laksa gravy was a bit too thin but is still quite favourful. Rice noodles are chewy and fish cakes, prawns and beansprouts in it are all fresh and yummy. Barley drink is quite thick in texture but a bit too sweet. Dining environment was quite squeezy but still quite cooling for the indoor seatings. Service was quite friendly as well.

Toast Box at City Square Mall always seems to be crowded at every time of the day, particularly so at tea time from 4+ to 6+. They have a good range of local food such as mee rebus/laksa etc but for tea time you may want to try their cakes and toast. We ordered a Lemon Grass Tea w Jelly ($2.60), Teh-C ($1.70) and a slice of their Banana Cake for $2.Out of everything, this probably surprised us the most. It had a distinct taste of teh-O, but yet the hint of lemongrass was really refreshing. It wasn't overly sweet, possibly not sweet enough for some, comparing to the kinds you get at Thai restaurants. The jelly was a good choice though -a pleasant touch to the otherwise bland tea. It's thirst quenching and has a lemony aftertaste. We do recommend this! The Teh-C was a bit sappy for my liking, as im quite particular with teas. However, it wasn't too thick nor was it too sweet. Also, at $1.70 it's a reasonable price for a quick break before rushing off for more shopping! The banana cake was a letdown though! The generous portion and golden-brown color was really enticing, but it fell short in terms of taste + texture. It wasn't fluffy at all, like how a perfect banana cake is supposed to be. It was chewy (much chewier than it looks) and slightly rubbery. Sigh. We didn't even finish the slice! Plus point would be that it wasn't too sweet?Do try the Lemon Grass Iced Tea -it's surprisingly good! Also, you can check out the range of toasts that they offer :-) it is, afterall, 'Toast' Box.

I was eating at Toast Box last night. It should be breakfast instead of night snack by right. I don't care so much. To me, there's no such rule which states what supper should or shouldn't eat. Here is what I ordered. A hot coffee with tea-spoon which tea-spoon was requested by me. The staff didn't provide me the tea-spoon initially. I like the tradisional toast with kaya and butter. It is enough for me to describe it as a best toast. In fact, Kaya Butter Toast from Toast Box is nice to eat.

It was quite early that morning, not many stores were open yet but Toast Box was! So, I decided to order a sugar and butter thick toast. The toast was crispy at first but very quickly it became a little tough. The butter and sugar gave the toast a salty-sweet combination which was good but the sugar was just too much! Too enjoy this toast you would have to eat it right on the spot when it's served, quickly!!

I love toast box's yummy peanut butter thick toast! Thick white bread slice toasted and slapped with a generous load of butter and sticky peanut butter with some peanut chunks. I also like how it's cut into 9 pieces and each is of bite-size and can be eaten with a toothpick, without dirtying our hands. Also ordered a traditional kaya toast with butter instead of the thick toast as i prefer thin slices of bread for kaya spread and butter.
