The japanese restaurant is located in the middle of a row of shophouses, opposite the shopping centre. It is part of the well known UmiSushi chain. But this outlet is different from other outlets as it has dine in area with service staffs. Thus there GST and service charge in the bill. Most of the outlets are no frills type and for takeaway with limited dine in area.Kanifumi Salad ($5.90)This was quite a huge serving. Served with sesame dressing, it was quite refreshing.Salmon Skin ($3.90)This made quite an addictive snack and served with mayo although I felt that it was not as crispy as it used to be.Tori Kaminabe ($11.90)Chicken fillet with assorted vegetables, served in Japanese paper hotpot with clear brothThe soup was light and flavourful. There was quite a variety of vegetables in the mini hotpot.Salmon Kaminabe ($12.90)Salmon fillet with assorted vegetables, served in Japanese paper hotpot with clear brothSimilar to the tori kaminabe, it had same soup base and variety of vegetables. The salmon was quite fresh and smooth in texture.Chasoba ($12.90)Cold Japanese tea noodle served with crispy tempura (3pcs), chawanmushi and daily saladThe soba was quite refreshing with the dipping sauce. The salad was simply shredded cabbage with sesame dressing. Simple and refreshing. The tempura was light and crispy and served tempura sauce. The chawanmushi was quite smooth, but had a hint of bitterness maybe due to the gingko nut.Oyako Don ($12.90)Chicken chunks with eggs and onions over Japanese rice, daily salad, miso soup and picklesQuite a huge serving.Chirashi Don ($12.90)Assorted sashimi chunks over Japanese rice, chawanmushi, daily salad, miso soup and picklesIt was served with sweet soya sauce. The sashimi tasted fresh and chunky.Overall food was not bad. Service was fast as the place was not crowded. There was only 2 other groups of customers besides us. continue reading
