For more reviews, visit www.umakemehungry.comWishbone is another family in restaurant in Singapore that worth to pay a visit to. Ever since 20 over years ago, they were already there and retaining their old style service and menu. For weekends I passed by, the place was usually very crowded till the point that it got hold of our interest and we even walk towards to check out what are the kind of cuisine that they were serving. Wishbone serves Chinese as well as western food, also acts like a cafe with Steaks and grills. What I like about it is that they have a corner for ice cream and waffles.Ambiance and environment pretty matches the old Bukit Timah Plaza Building giving a classic 80s 90s restaurant feel under the dim orange lighting. The all time best sellers in Wishbone was the scene stealer among all dishes. This succulent fresh half fish head was marinated in a familiar blend of Indian Spices and vegetables like ladies fingers, brinjas, tomatoes and green chillis.Having Fu Yong Egg here in Wishbone is worth every cent that we were paying for. Eggs were fluffy and you get to eat a few whole prawns under the eggs. At least we did not feel short change over here.Glass Jelly drink was surprisingly good. The cup was filled with ample grated jelly stripes and the sugar level was not too sweet. Rather refreshing to pair with the meal.Ice cream was too good to resist especially when there were so many recommendations. Having tried the Jackfruit flavour, I was totally swept off by the sweet fragrance and the added fruit bits among the cool bites. Though ice cream was soft and melts quickly, I guess I will be back for other flavours. Overall, Wishbone is a good dining place if you want to get some taste of decent food that taste above average. continue reading

My family and I were shopping at the Supermarket in the Bukit Timah Plaza and decided to have a dinner there. We went to the Wishbone Restaurant at the basement. The restaurant was almost full during dinner hours. I ordered the Prawn Noodles. The price was $10.90. The prawn noodle had a light tasting soup, more of pork bones than prawn shell taste. There were more fish cakes, crab sticks and kang kong than prawns. The prawns taste fresh and not powdery.Overall, at the price, I would expect there would be more prawns and of bigger size. continue reading

We are at this shopping mall for some errands and remembered there used to be a waffle town restaurant at the basement.Vaguely we thought this Wishbone restaurant seemed to be the replacement for the waffle town shop. Decor of the place is retro country style with quite dim lighting. The board outside says they serve waffles during tea time. However when we are seated the waiter told us waffles machine is spoilt. hence we took up the brownie set for their tea time menu. The brownie is surprisingly good! and it comes with a selected flavour of ice cream - we picked the gula malaka ice cream. The ice cream melts rather easily but is super tasty yet not overly sweet, matches well with the warmed soft brownie with nuts.I will return again if i am in the mall for the brownie again and hopefully their waffle machine is up then. continue reading

This place is your classic old shopping mall from the 80s/90s. It's nice and quiet to walk around though. Usually I drop by Bukit Timah Plaza for the supermarket. We had Seafood Fried Rice and the Fish & Chips. This place has your usual "family restaurant" feel and could get crowded with families at times. There is robust 'wok hei' tasting fried rice with fresh and succulent seafood, goes very well with their homemade chili.Crispy and toothsome battered fish fillet serve with hot fries and crunchy coleslaw. continue reading
