I was early for work and decide to drop off at Clark Quay Station instead of my usual Chinatown. Since my work place is within walking distance, i wasn't worried at all about having to enjoy my breakfast and getting to office all in good time! I always seem to order the kaya toast set. It has always been my ideal breakfast from ya kun The eggs and tea would always be ready first. And as i wait for my bread i would lightly stir my tea to blend the milk proper before drinking. The satisfaction of warm tea on a cool morning is really refreshing! I would pour somewhat an amount of soya sauce and black sauce (i like sweet and salted though not healthy) and some pepper to top it off! Then the nice auntie would usually appear around this time with my bread which i would immediately sank my teeth into I hate to have cold toast so i would try and finish the bread asap! I'm not so much peculiar with cold eggs and tea All in all it was a well spend breakfast in a quiet environment as there isn't like huge crowd at that time continue reading

Of the so many joints that sell toasts and soft boil eggs, Ya Kun's version never fail to let me down on the many occasions that I have it. Their soft boiled eggs are always cooked just right where the yolks will always be intact and the whites are not too raw. It is always a joy eating such eggs and burst the yolk myself, and twirling it with the dark soya sauce and pepper. If you haven't tried their soft boiled eggs, you should certainly try it! continue reading

Was around this area and by the time I was done with my errand around 11am, hunger strikes and I knew there were couple of good eateries around and went round 'hunting' them down but mostly not open for business till 11.30am. Suddenly I spotted Ya Kun and was so glad because knowing they will be available the whole day. As usual my favourite will be the set B, Butter Toast with sugar meal. Ya Kun got the best egg as in size and the toast would be enough to fill you up with good portion of cold butter, they served 2 full pieces unlike other places, they halved a slice of bread and served as 2 pieces. Loved their coffee with milk too. Found out from the poster on their wall that Ya Kun has opened one in Tokyo, yippee! Next time when I'm in Japan, I will be able to find something so close to home. The Ya Kun Motto in the first picture written was:The toast that binds....Kinship, Friendship, Partnership. continue reading
