This stall is manned by a Hokkien speaking white haired elderly lady. I am a Hokkien and it is a definite joy to be able to order in my native language. The elderly Auntie was on the phone when i was there. I waited for her to be done before ordered just a piece of ang ku kueh to take away.I got the coins ready and paid her the exact 0.50 cents when she handed me the ang ku kueh in a plastic bag.I was there at about 2 pm and so i left with limited choices. The ang ku kueh was a small one with grounded peanuts as filling. I guess the ang ku kueh has been left for a bit too long to cause the skin to be a little too hard. The skin was slightly too thick as well but with a generous bit of filling. The grounded peanuts mixed with just the right amount of sugar to give it a well-balanced sweetness.I would suggest to bring it home to steam it to have its skin soften before eating it though. It is an ideal snack to have it for it with coffee nonetheless. continue reading
