There was quite a queue right in front of this stall. It just gotten my curiousity at work again. In this instance, i just have to check it out myself to find the reason of such a queue. Though the queue was long but it moved pretty fast. I waited about 15 minutes to order and to collect it. I wanted the Spicy Kway Teow for only $3 as recommended on their menu board. The presentation was pretty neat. A good portion of kway teow served with ingredients like pork liver, minced meat, fishcake, braised mushroom, fishball, meatball and vegetable. I tossed the kway teow well with the sauce and the ingredients then had my first mouthful. First impression was it did not taste as spicy as it supposed to be. I seriously expected it to be much spicier and i would prefer it that way too.The kway teow was cooked perfectly though as it has got its desirable softness and not overly mushy. The pork liver has got a good thickness and cooked well to give it the right texture. Such effort is commendable. That bowl of soup that served along with the kway teow has got an intense sweetness derived from boiling of pork bone with dried sole fish for relatively long period of time.It was a bowl of pretty decent kway teow but not quite outstanding. It might not quite justify the queuing for it though. continue reading

The FoodI ordered a bowl of minced meat noodles. Topped with tasty servings of minced meat, pig's liver, fish ball and meat ball, the noodles are perfectly cooked with springy consistency and coated with savory gravy. I like their fishballs as are very bouncy in texture and fresh too. The soup also sweet and nice tooThe AmbienceAlthough the stall is in a hawker center, i find that the place was well-ventilated and not stuffy hence still acceptableThe PriceReasonably priced at $3 per bowlOverallI will definitely come back again and highly recommended to try this! continue reading

I was lucky to still be able to order their mee kia bak chor mee today (it's after 2 pm already and sometimes it gets sold out by then and I'll have to settle for mee pok or other noodles). I must emphasize that the soup given at the side for the bak chor mee is really very good! You can taste the sweetness of the bak chor (minced meat) which is enhanced by the addition of dried fish (干扁鱼). It's so good, I always slurp it down to the last drop The mee kia they use is also a bit different from the usual run-of-the-mill kind sold in other stalls. Theirs is the slightly thicker and flat version. The noodles are springy, as they first blanch the noodles in hot water followed by cold water. Flavouring of the noodles is tasty too, with a nice balance of the soya sauce, black vinegar and sambal chilli. Ingredients given are pretty generous too (fishball, meatball, fishcake, minced meat, braised mushrooms and pork liver) for $2.80Well, the fact that I eat here once every week serves as a testament to my devotion to the bak chor mee...LOLEven though there's always a queue here, service is still good with the stall owner giving a hearty thanks everytime you place an order.Highly recommended! continue reading
