I tried the same brand of this ayam penyet when I was in Batam and was not impressed by it though there's many raves about it and is a "die die must try" food when in Indonesia. I decided to give in another chance by having it in Singapore and was surprised that I did like the dish here in Singapore rather than in their home country. Perhaps it was the portion and size of the chicken leg compared to the tiny portion served there. I ordered the ayam penyet with white rice and gotten the chicken leg part with a solid full bowl of white rice. Also with the chicken is a piece of fried tau hu and some... deep fried bean thing which I didn't know what it is. The chicken is quite tender and flavorful, but lacked of the original "chicken" taste in it. It is crispy still and not very oily. I quite enjoy the meal though and was feeling very full after that.
