This is humble Singaporean comfort food at its best. Simple, not-at-all-pretentious, home cooking that our forefathers swear by, this stall is a few steps down from my former church and it was a favourite lunch destination for my family on Sundays. You can order meat and vegetable items to be piled on your plate of steamed rice or you can have the items as side dishes served in portions according to the number of people sharing them. You can order meat and vegetable items to be piled on your plate of steamed rice or you can have the items as side dishes served in portions according to the number of people sharing them. I'm not a big fan of cabbage but the braised cabbage here is soft, juicy and melts in your mouth. Definitely order the sunny side up eggs drenched in dark soy sauce and spread the runny yolk over your rice.
It's almost a must to have your rice drenched in curry for that extra kick but if your tongue can't handle the spice, opt for a savoury soy sauce gravy instead. Share a seat if you find all the tables occupied and be prepared to perspire as the curry spices ignites a flame party in your mouth.
