4 of my colleagues and I lunched at Bottura today. Our review was unanimous - we will not be going again. These were the dishes we tried:- squid ink pasta (Tagliolini Zebrati): it was mushy, overcooked, heavily-sogged in white cream sauce, and accompanied by prawns that were totally bland.- a home-made pasta called Nidi: the presentation was promising but taste-wise, it was just cheese, cheese and cheese.- spaghetti cooked in tomato sauce (Spaghetti Allámatriciana): the pasta was hard and lumped
These were the dishes we tried:
- squid ink pasta (Tagliolini Zebrati): it was mushy, overcooked, heavily-sogged in white cream sauce, and accompanied by prawns that were totally bland.
- a home-made pasta called Nidi: the presentation was promising but taste-wise, it was just cheese, cheese and cheese.
- spaghetti cooked in tomato sauce (Spaghetti Allámatriciana): the pasta was hard and lumped together, and the sauce tasted like canned-sauce fresh off the supermarket!
- a lasagne (Lasagne Polenta): very little cheese and even less beef. The solidified polenta - which tasted like cooked potato - was all that registers in your gustatory senses.
- a pizza (Pizza Melone Prosciutto) with honey dew and parma ham: this shared-dish was the only saving grace of our meal. This is not to say it was excellent; it was just average.
As for the service, we waited very long for some of the dishes to be served, and had to chase the wait staff for our cutlery and spices.
Among all the new Suntec restaurants that we have tried recently, Bottura has certainly stood out for the wrong reasons. As my colleague puts it, it should have been called "Botched-tura".
