We went for a quick dinner at NEX Serangoon mall last friday. It was an impromptu dinner as we knocked off on before 7pm. So I decided to have dinner before headed back home. We decided to try Bibigo which is located at 3rd level of the shopping mall. According to the website, the brand name ‘Bibigo’ is a Korean-English portmanteau from Korean bi-bi-da, to mix and English “to-go” which blending the quick service and convenience with a bold new interpretation of Korean culinary tradition. It is a chain of franchise restaurant owned by CJFoodville.

Upon arrival of the restaurant, there is a display signage of the promotion in front of the restaurant entrance. It shows an on-going promotion of 10% off from total bill using DBS/ POSB card. It was quick a good bargain as we decided to try Bibigo for choice of dinner.

Took some photos of the interior design of the restaurant. The design structure is nicely done with an open space design. The restaurant concept is towards healthier choice and also to promote Korean culture as well. Table-seats arrangement is in green leather banquette-style seats which is comfortable for dinning. There are also large group seats available as well.

There is a part of the restaurant with the glass walled kitchen. This means customers can catch all the action as it happens at the moment. It’s getting popular with the open concept kitchen so that customers have the chance to see what is happening in the kitchen.

There is a corner next to the cashier counter that sells the Korean food paste products. Customers are able to shop away with the korean sauce paste, korean seaweed and many more. It’s another option for customers to purchase back home and do their own cooking with Korean ingredients.

The staff will take an order from us and they do take the initiative to recommended their products in the menu. The staff recommended us the on-going promotion for the Jinro Makgulli which is only S$5 per bottle (750ml). The usual price was S$12.00 per bottle. It is korean rice wine which made from purest spring water. The alcohol content is 6%. We decided to give it a try. The staff served it chilled and gave us the bowl to pour the wine. It is Korean style of drinking with bowl. The taste wasn’t strong when we drank it. It taste a bit like soda and i personally feel that it is refreshing and clear the throat. It was a good try for us. We brought back the bottle as we can't finish the whole bottle over the dinner. You can slowly feel the effect after a while. So if you wish to give a try with such a bargain, perhaps you would like to drop by the outlet before 13th February 2013.

As for the foods wise,my colleague ordered Spicy soft tofu stew @S14.00. It is the spicy soft tofu stew in sizzling hot stone pot with a bowl of rice and also the side dishes. The serving time was fast. It was like within 5 minutes after order has been placed. In love with the soup as i thought it will be spicy with the presentation. But I am totally wrong. Right amount of the heat and not too spicy and salty. The tofu was so smooth that it just flow out of my spoon. We finished up the soup and it goes perfectly well with the plain white rice.Kimchi was too spicy for me but my colleague said the taste was ok only.

I ordered Hot Stone Bulgogi @ S$16.00. This set includes the char grilled beef thigh marinated in bibigo soy sauce and tang hoon in it. The portion was a bit too much for me. But i think it is just nice for a guy. The char grilled beef slices portion was very generous. We shared among our sets but we still cannot finish the beef slices. The thickness of the beef slices are just nice. Not too thick or too thin as we chew them. It was just nice for elderly who choose this dish. This is what i thought of when i had the. Mushroom was nicely cooked and taste yummy with the marinated soy sauce. Not to mention that there is sweetness taste of the beef as well. Guess it is the soy sauce does the wonder of it. It completes the whole meal with the plain white rice.

Dinner was quick, fast and nice. We had a comfortable and relaxing dinner. If you are hungry and you need a quick and healthier choice of meal, Bibigo might be one of the choice in your list then. The serving time was fast and the staffs are attentive to the customers. They are willing to share the korean food and culture knowledge with the customers. I think it is good as they also educate the customers with korean food knowledge as well.

Once the order is placed, the staff will key in the order into their POS system. Then, they will print out the bill and placed it on your table for reference and billing purpose. Customers will tend take the bill and approached to the cashier counter to make payment once they are done. The concept is quite similar with fastfood restaurant except that we can dine in first before paying.

Our total bill after 10% discount from total bill and inclusive of 10% Service Charges & 7% GST was S$37.08 for 2 pax. It was a reasonable and affordable price for dinning in with the food quality as well.
