My friend stays in the Tanjong Pagar area, so we decided to have our dinner at Pasta Inc as it was just a 10-min walk and it has quite good food reviews online. From the exterior, Pasta Inc. looks very much like a romantic fine dining restaurant, & we hesitated a bit because it was just 2 of us gals, not a couple! lol...... From the exterior, Pasta Inc. looks very much like a romantic fine dining restaurant, & we hesitated a bit because it was just 2 of us gals, not a couple! lol...... But anyway since the food prices on the menu don't look too exhorbitant, we decided to go in after 'surveying' other restaurants along the street.
Only 2 tables were filled, & they were both couples. Anyhow, we ordered a pasta each, & my friend also ordered a antipasti (appetizer) for herself (prawns hence I couldn't eat). Well I had the penne as I knew if I had the carbonara, it would prove too filling / creamy for me. At first try, the penne taste didn't appeal to me, but as I ate, I started to like the way it was cooked. However I couldn't finish my pasta & had to leave some penne behind while making sure the sausages ended up in my stomach hehe.
I had a mouthful of my friend's carbonara & it was quite well done too. But as expected it proved too creamy after a while so my friend also couldn't finish, in fact I think her leftover was more than mine.
While we were eating our pasta, the friendly chef came out to us and said he would prepare a special dessert on the house for us.... So nice ya? Take a look at what it is ;) The dessert looks good, isn't it? When I asked the chef what it was called, he said he hadn't named it yet, so if we want, we could help me come up with a name haha. It was actually Tiramisu with a stick of chocolate wafer on top, and cheese topped with cooked pear slices by the side. The pear slices were very sweet! The dessert was very good.
Though I wouldn't say this is a must-visit Italian restaurant in town, but the service is pretty good, with nice ambience & reasonable food yet will not burn your pocket. I paid slightly below $25 after adding all the service & GST charges for a very full meal.
So if you are in the area, perhaps you can try it out!
