Tucked upon the hilly outpost of Duxton is Flor Patisserie, a little dessert cafe made famous for their Japanese-inspired French pastries. Manning the shop is Chef Yamashita with years of experience crafting desserts and I have to say, their desserts almost never disappoints me whenever I pay them a visit.

Napoleon ($6.95) is Flor’s rendition of the crumbly mille-feuille. It looks unassuming and messed up for something labelled “best-seller” right? Boy I was wrong when I had my first bite because I can’t find a single word in my ever expanding dictionary to describe every spoonful of strawberry joy! If I dare say which I will say. This is my benchmark for future mille-feuilles. I dare say this is the best I can find in town.

The cake dressed in white also known as Formage Blanc ($6.60). A banana and chocolate mousse based dessert housed above a coconut dacquoise base. It was light. It was wonderful and a true beauty to behold. Now we know where to find her!

Patisseries like Flor are the trend in Singapore now. There’s one every corner but if you want good ones, Flor is one to consider. After all, it’s good to enjoy the life of a Parisian once in a while…
