It was a chill out night, a drinks after dinner thing. Half past 8pm, my partner and I wanted to have a quick dinner as we were both hungry so we decided to try Penny Black since it was in the vicinity. It was a chill out night, a drinks after dinner thing. Half past 8pm, my partner and I wanted to have a quick dinner as we were both hungry so we decided to try Penny Black since it was in the vicinity. By the Boat Quay river, the ambience was definitely a boost factor. The food, however, was a so-so I'd say. My partner ordered the Fish and Chips(served in a pan) while I had a Pan-fried Chicken Chop. For the Fish and Chips, the fried fish was crunchy yet soggy at the same time, as if it was fried twice. It also reeked fishy taste. French fries serving was generous though. For the Chicken Chop, it was served a large piece of chicken breast meat with thick-cut fries and salad. The thing I like about the chicken was that it had no fats, just pure white meat coated with crumbs and cheese.. this would be a positive pointer for those who keep a watch on their weight. Except that though seemingly marinated, it came out pretty bland, had to coat the taste with tomato and chili sauce. Thick-cut fries came soggy and soaked in oil too. Salad was lightly dressed but it was alright. Service was passable, friendly and cheerful staff but only refilled our glasses with water when requested to.. thrice.

After the food experience, we gave a second thought to having drinks there so we paid and headed elsewhere. Wouldn't go back there again unless I have to.
