We came at an odd timing for lunch so the restaurant was pretty empty.  I have seen reviews about their white, black and red ramen and remembered that the white one was the best as it was the original so i recommended my bf to take it. We came at an odd timing for lunch so the restaurant was pretty empty.  I have seen reviews about their white, black and red ramen and remembered that the white one was the best as it was the original so i recommended my bf to take it. I didnt wanted ramen so I ordered the gyoza and fried chicken instead. Now now, I really need to give a minus to their price point. that miserable portion of fried chicken cost us more than $6! And really, the quality of food was sorely disappointing. The gyoza and fried chicken was very oily and left a greasy feel in the mouth long after. The fried chicken was not even very crispy, and felt as if it was soggy from too much oil. Gyoza was very forgettable.

When the white tonkotsu ramen came, we noticed that the portion was slightly small compared to the ramen we had at other places. There was also a layer of oil on top of the broth. However, the broth was thick and looked quite promising. I was so excited about tasting the broth and probably, I had too high an expectation but it was lacking oomph. After much discussion, we realised that it was not salty enough! It was strangely because the broth was definitely tasty, but the lack of saltiness actually made it taste rather flat. Well, not being salty is a good thing, but at the expense of taste and for the all-important broth of ramen, I think Menya really could do better. The egg was also too hard and you can see that the yolk is not at all runny. Ingredients were miserly portions. 2 slices of charsiu, bits of veg and thats it. The whole meal just left us feeling very unsatisfied.

Having said that, I would probably give it a chance and visit again. I saw they had something interesting called the thunder ramen. Apparently very spicy. Well although i love spicy stuff, given how oily the food we had looked, I might have to think twice.
