How can I not have their signature Old Town White Coffee (Hot) ($2.20) whenever I patronize their outlets? This recipe of the original Old Town white coffee have been passed down since the coffee chop owner created it. This secret blend of white coffee which have a legacy for more than 50 years never fails to arouse my senses each time I drink it. The coffee is very aromatic and smooth. What's more perfect than a Kaya & Butter Toast (Single) ($1.20) to go along with me coffee? I love the crispiness and the fragrance from the toast. The warm toast together with the tantalizing and sweet kaya (coconut jam) with some smooth creamy butter in it simply melts in my mouth. Although Ya Kun Kaya Toast are famous for this, I would say that both are as good!

Lastly, I decided to try out this Ice Fire Polo Bun ($2.50) which have a very interesting name. It looks like quite an ordinary polo bun with nothing special. However, after taking 1 bite of it, I found out for myself the meaning behind the name. The butter in the middle of the bun is warm and the crispy crust on top has a milky and buttery taste. I think to myself again, trying to understand the name better but I guess this is the best I can go to decode the “ice” and “fire” in the bun. It wasn’t that fantastic but if you’re looking for a sweet bun with a crispy texture, this is something you may look for.

Old Town is a place definitely you must visit for good o’ authentic white coffee with the taste of Nanyang.
