Sunlife is actually known more for their durian puffs but I am not really that keen on durian so I have never really checked out their little kiosk at Causeway Point. It doesn't really help that their kiosk display usually doesn't showcase lots of goodies to tempt me. But while passing by one day, I spied chocolate eclairs, and on closer look, was overjoyed to also find chocolate pancakes and fondant cakes!Chocolate Pancake ($1.50)This was prepared on the spot so there was a short waiting time f
This was prepared on the spot so there was a short waiting time for this. The pancake skin was very thin while the chocolate wasn't overly sweet. But due to its small size, it wasn't exactly filling and I thought it was a little pricey for the small size.
This was quite decent and the puff pastry and cream was not as bland as some eclairs I've tried before elsewhere. The cream inside was chocolate which was good news for a chocolate lover like me. At $1.30 for two pieces, I found this to be quite reasonable!
This looked somewhat jelly-like but still held together quite well in spite of me shaking it around. The chocolate had a slightly hardened edge which then gradually developed into a somewhat custard-like chocolate lava in the middle. I was also surprised to find a slightly crumbly tart base which made it felt a little like a chocolate tart.
The items are actually quite small here but I supposed these are to be expected considering its price. While not as fancy or decadent as other higher end or higher priced cakes elsewhere, I think they are still decent enough to have as an occasional light treat. If you are not a durian fan, you can give the chocolate fondant cake or pancake a try. The small size actually works for me on occasions when I just want a small piece of dessert!
