If I am not wrong, Charcoal Thai is the only thai restaurant in the Kovan area. Walked past it the other day and decided to try its ala carte dishes - there were one or two tables having mookata (thai steamboat + bbq). I ordered the fried prawn cake, which are four pieces of flat prawn cake fried till crispy - tastes normal but not too bad with the thai chilli sauce that came with it. Kangkong was average though.
