Chung Cheng Chilli Mee.Prawn Mee.Laksa frequently caught my attention whenever I walk pass the stall in Golden Mile Food Centre (Beach Road Army Market). Why? Well 2 reasons. Firstly, there is always a perpetual queue. Secondly, they sell Chilli Mee. (my thought was 'what the hell is Chilli Mee?') They also sell Prawn Mee and Laksa besides Chilli Mee. Chilli Mee is their speciality.

I have never heard of Chilli Mee before and decided to try it out one day.

Perpetual queue at the stall, waited about 20 minutes. Below the signboard are displays of magazines and newspaper articles featuring this stall.

At last, it is my turn to order!

The Chilli Mee consist of prawns, fish cakes, tau pork, pork ribs, bean sprouts, slices of hard boiled egg, yellow noodles and the chilli paste. What a unique combination and generous portion of ingredients for just $4. Give it a good mix to ensure that all ingredients are well coated with the chilli paste.

The main ingredient in this case will be the chilli paste. It was an awesome combination of sweetness and spiceness. It was not overly spicy and I found myself walking over to the stall to request for more chilli paste halfway into this meal. Shiok!! It was made from belachan, garlic, onion, shrimp, chilli and other spices. I also like the pork ribs as they were cooked till soft, tender and savory. But the prawns were disappointing, meat was chewy and soft; not fresh.

Overall, the Chilli Mee was unique and really delicious! Foodies should give this a try, you never know what you are missing till you try it.
