This is one of the few surviving stalls located at the level 1 of this food centre. The food centre was extremely quiet during lunch on a weekday with more closed down stalls at this level. This particular stall is hidden away right at a corner of this food centre.The choices of Yong Tau Foo items are rather limited but given this is one of the few stalls left so not too bad a choice. The choices of Yong Tau Foo items are rather limited but given this is one of the few stalls left so not too bad a choice. The minimum selection has to be 7 pieces as indicated on their menu board. I picked exactly 7 items including the tau kwa with fish paste, ngor hiang, tau pok, fish cake and so on. I wanted the thin bee hoon and added 0.60 cents for laksa gravy.
I was asked for my table number which i did not take notice so i pointed to some tables located a little further from the stall to the lady. It was served by the same lady in less than 5 minutes to my table. I was charged a total of $4.20.
It's a little pricey as most of the items selected were the usual items for Yong Tau Foo.
A good portion of thin bee hoon was given though. I was a bit skeptical of its taste given the unappealing presentation. Apparently, the gravy tasted a little nicer than expected with quite a distinctive taste of coconut milk and a pretty mild level of spiciness. The spoonful of sambal chilli given did not have an effect to enhance its taste further. It was served with a handful of beansprouts and with cockles added.
The bee hoon was cooked pretty nicely to give it the desired texture. It tasted pleasantly nice when eaten with the laksa gravy. Most of the items tasted mediocre and the fried ngor hiang was the most preferred item. The tau kwa tasted a little stale with a strange taste. Though not the worst experience but i doubt i am keen to go back for more.
