Nice BBQ
BBQ Express
2010-11-14
Take away counter that offers nicely roasted delights. Roasted meats are tender and marinate tastes good. Prefers their honey roasted range over the black pepper. Ribs and chicken are equally tender and good. Their rice are not as good as their roasted though. The pineapple rice that I tried does taste right, and the rice had lumped together. Suggest buying their roasted meat only.…Read More

Standard menu, standard fare. No surpises in what you will be getting. However, the service at this branch is horrible. Staff is rude and impatient. Needs more training.…Read More

Nice fish n chips (and more)
Naked Fish Express
2010-11-14
The fish and chips at this kiosk (mini store) is surprisingly good. Fish does not smell fishy at all. The breaded chicken is also tender and nicely fried. Recommend the feather and fins set where you get a piece of fish, a piece of breaded chicken and chips. Great take away food. Dinning there is not easy as they only have two tables. The store does need to improve their customer service though. Staff can learn to smile more and be less grouchy.…Read More

Good service
Starbucks
2010-11-14
Well, what more can I say about the food offering at Starbucks? It is standard fare similar to macdonald's SOP style of preparation. For this branch, I must say the service is good. I ordered the waffles and asked if they offer chocolate sauce. Their SOP don't, but the staff offered me the chocolate sauce that they use to drizzle their drinks. Nice waffles to start the day. …Read More

Over priced beef noodles
Original Hock Lam Beef
2010-11-14
The beef noodles are not bad, but I find it rather over-priced. The gravy for the "dry" beef noodles are rather too starchy, and the spices seems overdone causing the taste to be too strong. I find the soup better as the good old beef noodle soup fragrance is there.Chilli is well blended and is a good complement to go with the beef. Plain rice is not available (or limited availability), which is a dissappointment. But, to pay $7.90 for a bowl is way too much.…Read More

Terrible ramen
Bishamon
2010-11-14
Went there with two other friends to try their ramen and we were very dissapointed. The noodles tasted like any food court grade ramen noodles. Soup does not taste good and is a far cry from authentic ramen stores. Also, the menu is priced on the high side. …Read More

Nice noodles in a cramped up store.
The Old Pontian Cafe
2010-11-14
Have been eating at this store frequently, and my only complain is the limited seating available. The store is so small and it is really a challenge walking to the inner most table.Back to the food.Wanton noodle - The texture of noodles is "Q", and well cooked. Both fried and boiled dumplings are provided so you get to try both. Char siew is tender and has a tinge of sweetness. Gravy is generous. Chilli can be rather spicy.Popiah - A little dissappointed as I don't really find it nice. It is not too wet, but does not taste so outstanding to call for a recommendation. Ipoh horfun - Very standard fare.Just go for the wanton noodles.…Read More

Seeing stars!
Founder Bak Kut Teh Restaurant
2010-11-14
This store seems to be the official bah kut teh store for visiting stars! So many have eaten here that all the walls are covered with photos! Their bah kut teh soup is the pepper based type (teochew style). The soup is not too hot and is a little sweet. The ribs are tender and does not have the "porky" smell. Their pork leg is also quite nice.Only two things I do not like:1) Long queue during peak hours, and standing along the road. 2) Rather pricey.Closed Tuesday.…Read More

Chinese Mixed Rice - Fountain Food Terrace
2010-11-13
IMHO, this is the best mixed rice in Suntec area. The long endless queue during lunch hours is a strong testimony!Food quality - Dishes are hot and well cooked. Not too salty.Serving - Serving size matches expectation for the price tag.Variety - Wide. In fact, it is difficult to choose as many of the dishes looks nice!…Read More

Nice wanton noodles
M'sian Peddler Sidewalk - Food Republic
2010-11-13
Only tried the wanton noodles. Not sure why the stall named it as tuk tuk noodles! The noodles are well boiled, and the sauce is tasty. The soup provided is tasty, but the taste of pork might not appeal to some. Some things to note:Chilli - it is very spicy! Ask for reduced chilli if you can't really take spice.Sauce - the thick sauce added is rather generous, which may not be of everyone's liking. Ask for reduce dark sauce if you don't like thick gluey gravy.…Read More

Fried Hokkien Prawn Mee - Food Republic
2010-11-13
IMHO, the hokkien noodles, char kway teow, carrot cakes served by this stall is not at all nice. The hokkien noodle is fried in one big wok at one go and dished out as customers orders. I once had a cold plate of noodles. The prawns that was added on top of the noodles are definitely cold and tasteless. The carrot cake was nothing special. No different from the carrot cake that you can get at more than 50%off t hawker centres.Absolutely not worth the $4.80 price tag for the smallest serving!…Read More

Qi Ji
2010-11-13
As far as I know, this is the only Qi Ji outlet in Suntec area that serves plain rice during lunch. Recommendations:Curry chicken - very nice! Rich and not too spicy.Mee siam - gravy is not too sour and not too spicy.Aunty attending the rice counter during lunch - very friendly!…Read More

Better service at this branch
Wang Café
2010-11-13
Wang is one of the two local cafes that are my favourites.Drinks - Their coffee and tea are well prepared and tastes rich and authentic. The coffee blend is fragrant and freshly brewed (i.e. no sour coffee!). The coffee-c and teh-c is nicely made, not the bland and diluted types. Food - the mee siam is quite nice, not too sour. Mee rebus is rather dissappointing as it is too spicy! Service - friendly. The aunties working here are more friendly than the foreign talents working at their Suntec branch. A little dissapointing is their recent price increase. …Read More

Deteriorating standards and value
Wan Chai Hong Kong Tea Room
2010-11-13
I have been frequenting this place for breakfast and lunch, and I must say that their standards have been dropping. Serving size has also shrunk.Soft boiled eggs - It looks more like hard boiled eggs. Beef sheng mian - the slices of beef have reduced dramatically.Portugese curry baked rice - again, reduced serving. Chicken meat can be tough.Wan ton noodles soup - the soup is no where near authentic. In fact, tastes a bit weird.Only item that I would recommend: milk teaThe milk tea tastes great, smell of tea is fragrant and the amount of evaporated milk added is sufficient to give you the milky aroma. Do note that it can be too sweet. Ask for reduced sugar if sweet stuffs are not your cup of tea. …Read More
