Dim sum
The China Club
2014-12-11
Situated on the 52th floor of Capital Tower, China Club offers a very good view of the area. It is only open to members, and selected credit members. Since my friend got the credit card, we joined him for the dim sum lunch, which is at 50% off on Saturdays. At 50% off, the price is almost about the same as other dim sum outlets. So can try. Recommend the Deep fried shrimp and scallop dumpling wrapped with crispy bread roll. The shrimp and scallop are fresh with some sweetness. The while dumpling is crispy but don't feel the oilyness.  Also recommend the baked char siew bao.The meat has a wonderfully alluring fragrance, a lovely balance of sweet and savoury flavours. The dough is cottony and airy. The service is very good and a lot of attention are given to us during our time there. The staff are also very friendly.…Read More

children's meal
Yoshinoya
2014-12-11
The kid's meal (around $5) is very attractive. Looking at it will make any kid smile and whett up their appetite. The smiley potatoes are crispy and nice. But the fried salmon is not that good. Maybe the fish is not fresh, it taste quite weird and hard, not at all like salmon. My kid stop eating it after one bite. The sweet corn is crunchy and sweet. Not really a healthy kid's meal, as there are too many fried things and mayonaise. Oh, the meal also comes with a stamper, so will still appeal to kids.…Read More

Rainbow cake
The Pine Garden
2014-12-11
A nostalgic cake from my childhood days. Very attractive cake which appeals to yound kids now too. The sponge cake is very soft and fluffy. The jam is not too sweet and the different flavours of jam adds to the fun of eating this cake. The cream for the cake is fragrant and quite light on the tastebuds. It does not have an oily aftertaste. You won’t feel like you’ve had too much cake after you’ve eaten these. Highly recommended.…Read More

Apple Pizza
PastaMania
2014-12-11
I like the apple pizza from pastamania. It's a change from the usual pizza which are savory, This is a sweet pizza, good as dessert. The crust is thin and crispy, topped with lots of crumbles which are crisp and slightly sweet. The apples are soft (without being too mushy) and sweet. The cinnamon taste is not too overwhelming and is of just right proportion. The serving of apples can be more generous. Overall, it's a nice dessert after a meal of spaghetti. $5 for this pizza is reasonable. Highly recommended. Staff service in this restaurant is friendly and prompt. Good place for family gathering.…Read More

Xmas Danish
Starbucks
2014-12-11
This xmas tree danish attracts my child attention when we stepped into starbucks. The staff is proactive and asks if we wanted it heated up, which is nice. The danish taste ok, crisp on the outside and the layers within do not have too much of buttery taste. The jam circles are also not too much of taste, can't really tell what jam it is...perhaps some berry jam. Priced at $4.50, I thought it is on the more expensive side as this is just a simple danish. Ambience is conducive and is a nice place to relax.…Read More

Buffet Buffet!
Buffet Town
2014-11-21
It's been a year since I last went to buffet town. To my surprise, the dishes are still exactly the same. For desserts (cakes), I thought the quality has went down a bit, or maybe the desserts which I like are not there. Ice-cream flavours are also not as nice that day.The satay is a great hit as usual, though I was the first 5 pax to enter, the satay had already ran out! I like the fried stuff best -- keropo, fried sweet potato (very sweet and crunchy), fried prawns. fried bananas (sweet and crunchy) - this dish also runs out fast, so do grab soon. The fried prawn is a bit plain and close to tasteless though. Would recommend the fresh prawns to go with the yummy laksa. Children would love the playground, so those with children, do remember to reserve a seat near the playground, can eat while watching your children play and run.…Read More

For durian lovers
Straits Cafe
2014-11-21
This is the place to go for durian and buffet lovers. In addition to the wide spread of international cusine, there is still the much sought-after durian desserts -- from durian pengats, mousecake, durian puff and durian pancake, durian crepe. The durian pengat is very rich with durian pulp and it's mye favourite. It also run out very fast, so do grab one when you can. The durian cake is very soft and moist and one can't stop at just 1 piece though sinful. I don't quite like the durian pancake/crepe though as I think they are quite hard and cold. Prefer the skin to be hot while the filling are cool. Service by staff is very good, and they clear the plates very fast. A good place for family and friends gathering, and the location is convenient!…Read More

Lunch at BWB
Burger VS Wings + Bar (BWB)
2014-11-21
We ordered the children meal. At a price of about $10, it consists of 2 super-mini chicken burgers! I think it is definitely not worth the price. The taste is also not that good, quite salty for children, not quite healthy. In fact, one of the chicken patty is almost overcooked! Will not recommend. We also got the Classic Heavyweight Beef Burger. The patty is huge and really juicy. As the portion is huge, it's enough for 2 person. The restaurant ambience is good and cosy for friends' gathering. Staff service is fast and friendly.…Read More

ala cart buffet lunch
TungLok Seafood
2014-11-20
We tried the ala cart buffet lunch. $26.80/pax for weekday, and children below 6 yrs old are FOC. Quite a lot of variety - includes dim sum, meat, fish, beancurd, vege, noodles, dessrts. Value-for-money atthe price. One of my favourite dish is the curry prawns. The taste is very good, and go very well with the fried mantou. For desserts,  I recommend Crispy Pancake with Lotus Paste Filling and Ice-cream Puff. The fillingin the pancake is generous, not too sweet and nice. Must be eaten fast when it is crispy. The icecream puff is vanilla flavour and is a hit with children. The beancurd is also good as it is very smooth and silky, and best of all not too sweet.I've also tried their yam paste in coconut in another occasion, and it taste very good. The portion is very small though.Staff service is prompt, change plates for every dish, and is a good place for family and friends gathering. Will comeback again.…Read More

Ala cart buffet lunch
Ban Heng
2014-11-20
Happen to see the menu of BanHeng while shopping in Orchard Central, so we thought we'll give it a try. The price for ala cart buffet lunch is quite cheap $22.80/pax, and the food selection is quite wide. We tried all the chef’s recommendations which can only be ordered once -- Braised Shark's Fin with Crabmeat, Braised whole Abalone in Brown Sauce, Drunken Prawn with Chinese Herbs, Chilli Crab or Black Pepper Crab, Stir fried Scallop with Asparagus, Frog Leg with Spicy Sauce, Steamed clam with ginger and garlic, and Deep fried Soon Hock fish.I love the abalone best, very succulent and chewy. I think the drunken prawn is a bit bland, could do with more herbs. Chilli crab is so so only, the sauce is not as flavourful and spicy as expected. Deep freid soon hock fish is yummy as it is very crispy. The other dishes (dim sum, meat, vege, dessert) are so so only - can't expect too much at this price. For better quality food, suggest to consider elsewhere. Staff service is quite good though and are prompt in changing our plates after every dish. Ambience is also good for family gatherings.…Read More

yummy pizza slice
The Manhattan Pizza Co
2014-11-20
Happened to get a voucher for this shop, so we tried the pizzas. Ordered Hawaiian pizza and roast duck pizza. We loved them both. For the hawaiian pizza, the toppings - ham and pineapples are quite generous and juicy. Some different from the usual pizza shops. I think it is value for money at a price of $5.20 per slice. For the roast duck pizza, the duck meat is soft and the portion is huge. It is also very crispy. This outlet is quite cosy, tucked in a corner at the basement of Orchard Central, good place for gatherings and to chit-chat. Staff are friendly and service is prompt.…Read More

dimsum
Crystal Jade Hong Kong Kitchen
2014-11-20
This is our favourite place. Always come here for dim sum on weekends. Like the Shrimp dumpling, siew mai, xiao long bao, custard bun and the char siew bao best.  The xiao long bao's skin is very thin and the juicy minced pork meat is very sweet and chewy. The staff are friendly and service is quite prompt. They serve us generous amount of preserved ginger slices to go along with the xiao long bao too. I also like the char siew bao filling, as it is sweet and not much of "white meat". Price is reasonable, and ambience is condusive for family gathering.…Read More

Children meal
Osaka Ohsho
2014-11-20
First time here. Ordered via the iPad, very high-tech. Ordered the children meal, together with Ramen and gyoza. There are 2 choices of childrens meal. We ordered the set which is nicely set in an aeroplane, with rice, gyoza, and fried chicken. While the serving is attractive to a child, the taste is only so so. I think the chicken is a bit too salty/marinated for a child. A bit disappointed with the gyoza, as I had great expectations of it before i come. But it tasted a little bit burnt. The ramen which I ordered is the prawn ramen. I like it because it is not as salty as those I've tried elsewhere. Noodle serving is ok but prawn/other toppings could be more.Service by staff is very good as she attends to our queries and requests promptly. Ambience here is also good - not too noisy during the peak hours.…Read More
