Chocolate eclair
Subway Niche
2012-11-20
I was shopping at the Wisma Atria recently & happened to pass by Subway Niche & saw the tempting eclairs on display so decided to buy them. They cost just 3 for 1.6 $. I picked up 3 & started eating them. They were so chocolaty, creamy, smooth & soft. I had no idea, we can get such good eclairs in Singapore for so cheap. They just melted in the mouth. I guiltily finished all 3 & enjoyed every bite of them.…Read More

Our fav Nando's
Nando's
2012-11-20
We recently went to Nando's for dinner, this time, besides the 1/4 chicken which is our normal order, we ordered for Chicken livers. The 1/4 chicken was great, like it usually is. The Chicken liver was simply delicious, it was prepared with Nando's peri peri sauce. It wasn't too spicy, had gravy & tasted yummy. I am a chicken liver fan so really enjoyed it. Im glad I tired the Chicken liver for a change. For sides we ordered Mediterranean rice, fries, coleslow & 3 bean salad. We also ordered for bottomless Iced tea. The bill came upto 40$ for 2 pax.…Read More

Relaxing time Drinking at Clarke Quay
The Bungy Bar
2012-11-20
Last weekend, we went to Clarke Quay for a drink with some friends. We decided to settle down at the Bungy Bar, so that we could watch the extreme bungy rides. It is a very cosy place & has friendly staff. I ordered for Sex on the BEach coktail, some nacho's & some calamari. Sex on the Beach is a great drink & my favourite that has Schnapps, peach, Vodka, Cranberry juice & Orange Juice. It wasn't too strong & I enjoyed it with some cheesy nacho's & calamari. The place is not so expensive. for 3 drinks & 2 starters we spent about 50-60 $ which is Ok for a place like Clarke Quay.…Read More

Gong Cha
2012-11-20
I was recently at Juction 8 & wanted to have a drink badly so I headed to Gong Cha & decided to have a Lemon Juice with While pearl Ai Yu Jelly. I asked for it to be 30% sweet. It was fresh Lemon juice with a refreshing lemony flavor & bits of lemon. The white pearls Ai Yu Jelly were great & chewy & I liked them better than the black pearls. It is quite a refreshing drink to beat the summers & citrus lovers will definitely love it. It costs about 3$.…Read More

Chewy Junior
2012-11-20
After Sunday mass service, we headed to Clementi Mall for some tea & snack. So we decided to try out the Chewy Junior donuts. We asked fro 2 Oreo, 1 Strawberry & 1 Almond Chocolate donuts. They are fresh, creamy & just melt in the mouth. They are so addictive, that we finished all of them. They tasted really good with a cup Yuan yang. All were great but I liked the Almond Chocolate one the most. We spent about 4-5$ on the Chewy donuts.…Read More

Octapas - International Tapas Bar
2012-10-29
We were in Clarke Quay check out the Halloween celebrations last weekend. We stopped at Octapas for some drinks & food. We ordered for Sex on the beach, Long Island Iced tea & Spanish fly cocktails. For finger foods we ordered for some garlic bread & Bacon wrapped prawns in Tomato salsa. The Sex on the beach was vodka based with orange schnapps, orange & cranberry juice. It was a strong cocktails & tasted great.Long Island Iced tea was a mix of vodka, rum, gin with lime juice & Pepsi. This is a very strong drink & tasted great as well.Spanish fly is more of a lady's drink is a mix of Vodka, peach Schnapps, blue curacao & 7 up. IT is a mild drink. The bacon prawn wraps were great and had a yummy tomato salsa dip. They were served hot. The garlic bread was great as well. Finally we ordered for Octamisu, which is basically tiramisu, which was the best. It was fresh, served cold & had a lovely coffee flavor. The service was good. The bill came up to 100 odd $. Octapas is a little over priced.…Read More

Quick local dinner
TOAST BOX
2012-10-29
On my way home from work, I stopped by toast Box for a quick local dinner. I was told that the Toast Box Laksa is amazing, so I decided to try it out. Truly enough it was awesome. It costs about 5-6$. It is a big bowl of Laska with prawns, crab meat, egg etc. The Laska soup was really yummy & spicy, there is a fresh coconut flavor to it. It was filling & is like a complete meal. I loved the Laksa at Toast Box & visited Toast Box again the following week for some more.…Read More

Awesome dinner
Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar
2012-10-29
Sometime last month, when we were at Central mall, we decided to have dinner at Covelli Italian Bistro & Wine Bar. We made a reservation before going there. It is a neat, simple, yet classy fine dining restaurant. The staff were very friendly & welcoming. We took a corner table. The place was not crowded, probably since we reached there just 30 mins before closing time. We straight away ordered for a Lasagna and Risotto Zafron. The food took about 15-20 mins to arrive. In the meanwhile we were served garlic bread. Our food finally arrived. The lasagna was typical made with mince & lasagna sheets. The garnishing was great with some yummy tomato sauce, it was great. The Risotto Zafron was a cheesy rissoto made with tiger prawns. The flavors were great, the rice was well cooked, the prawns tasted fresh & well cooked. it was cheesy as ever & I really enjoyed it. Overall it was a great dining experience. We paid about 35-40$ for our meal.…Read More

Indian food
Madura's Vilas
2012-10-29
One day after my shopping in little India, I went to Komala Vilas for a quick & light dinner. I ordered for Special wada. I actually wanted to have 2 samosas, but I went and had a look at the food on display & noticed this large pattie like thing and asked what it is & was told it is a special wada. It was quite big in size compared to normal wadas & can be had as dinner as it is quite fiilling. It is made up of pulses, onion, chillis & spices, ground together, made into a pattie & fried. It was served with 2 kinds of coconut chutney. Since it was a rainy evening & the weather was cold, I also had a cup of masala tea after my dinner. The tea was nice & had a strong masala flavor & aroma. My dinner at Komala Vilas costed me about 5-6$ only.…Read More

Big Bites - Kopitiam
2012-10-29
When I was In Tampines mall I looked around for some Indian food & found Big bites. So I decided to have some Pau Bhaji for lunch, which is basically buttered bread served with the curry made of pureed vegetables, mainly mashed potato. The dish was served hot, it was medium spicy, it had a nice fragrance of pau bhaji masala. The portion served was good & filling. The price was about 5$. I love the food at Big bites, it has never disappointed me. …Read More

Pizza time
Pizza Hut
2012-10-29
On the weekend we were in the mood for some Pizza, so we went to Pizza hut at around 7:30 PM & the waiting time was 30 mins, so we made a reservation & came back once the table was ready. We ordered for a Meat Galore small Pizza, a soup of the day, an Iced tea & some honey chicken wings. The soup & the Iced tea was served first. The soup was a clear veg & chicken soup, plain but fresh & tasty. Then the honey Chick wings were served, the wings were just OK, nothing special about them, we found them too bland. The Pizza was great, we had a meat galore pizza, which was topped with chunks of meat & pepperoni. It was served hot & was really tasty. Though we din't order much it was quite filling & we enjoyed our meal. The bill came upto about 22-25$.…Read More

Delhi Restaurant
2012-10-23
We went to little India one weekend for an Indian dinner & ended up at Delhi Restaurant, but at their brach at race course road. The ambiance is lovely especially the grand entrance. there were few people dining there at around 10PM. We settled down comfortably & ordered for Chicken dhaniwal Korma, along with stuffed naan & garlic naan. we were first served some crispy fried papad. Then the food arrived. The Chicken is a creamy gravy made of cashew nuts & coriander. It was rich & full of spices & flavors. It really went well with the stuffed naans & garlic naans. The naans were frshly made & was served hot. We finished off with some Mango kulfi which was yummy too. It was topped with tutti frutti which is my favorite. The bill was about 30$.…Read More

Sub Lunch time
Subway
2012-10-23
Last week, I went out for lunch with a friend from work. We headed to Sub way. I ordered for a tuna combo ( Sub+ iced tea) plus a cookie for an extra $. The combo costed 5$. This is the first time I tried a tuna sub, as I was always skeptical to try it out, thinking I may not like it. But since my friend suggested that I should try it, so I did. The tuna & mayo filling was awesome. Now i prefer the Tuna subs compared to the other Subs :). I am not so fond of veggies but asked for some lettuce, jalapenos & olives with ranch dressing. The sub was yummilicious with iced tea. I finished off with my favourite choc chip cookie. Perfect lunch. …Read More

PastaMania

Few weeks back, we were in the mood for some pizza. So we headed to Pastamania. We had to queue up for 10 mins before we placed our order since it was a weekend. We finally placed our order. We ordered for a spirite, garlic bread, pepperoni Pizza & molten lava cake for dessert. The garlic bread & drink was immediately served. The ambience is casual but comfy. The bread was hot, fresh & crispy. It had a yummy buttery & garlic flavour. By the time we finished it, our pizza arrived. it was nicely topped with pepperoni & cheese. I enjoyed it with ketchup & chilli flakes. the base was crispy & it was really tasty. It wasn't too oily either. We finally finished with a warm lava cake with chocolate oozing out of it....it was so chocolaty & yummy. We finished it to the last crumb :). The bill was about 20-25$ only.…Read More

ORTU
Lil Papa's Wieners Beerstro
2012-10-13
I was one of the lucky Openricers who got a chance to be part of the ORTU at Lil Papa's Wieners Beerstro. We reached there by 8 PM & were welcomed by the warm & friendly Open Rice team. We had a brief photo session & we were introduced to other Openricers & were served spicy & salted chips along with lemonade or Cherry coke. We were later introduced to the Man behind the Beerstro, the owner who told us about the different types of beers he has, which are usually not available accross the counter & the pairing of beers with the 3 types of Weiners offered to us. ~ Lil Papa's Fav Wiener (Non spicy), Sincago Wiener (spicy) & Sambal Sin Wiener (very spicy). Lil Papa's mascot is something that cannot miss your eye & is actually a cartoon representation to the owner's grand father.I chose a Sincago Weiner which was a tomato beef sausage hot dog with Mild american mustard, chopped white onions, pickles, green hot peppers & cherry tomatoes. It was served with dark craft beer ( I don't remember the name). The pairing was great. The flavours of the hot dog were yummy. The sausage, mustard sauce, peppers, pickles....was simply the BEST. The beer too had a distinct flavour. It was strong & bitter but pleasant. We were stuffed after the Beer & hot dogs, not realising the party wasn't over yet . Then came the Sausage platter with assorted sausages topped with some Sauerkraut. The platter was paired with Apple Toffee Cider. Though I was full,I binged on the yummy saucy sausages till I could eat no more. The Sauerkraut (sour cabbage) tasted like the typical sauerkraut you get at German restaurants & was perfect. We ended our meal with a glass of Toffee Apple Cider which had a lovely toffee flavour & a mild apply fragrance. It was fizzy, sweet & refreshing, after a filling meal.It was a perfect evening with excellent food/drinks & perfect company. Thanks to the Openrice team & off course Lil papa's Wieners Beerstro. Cheers!!!!…Read More
