Comforting Chinese Dishes
Peach Garden @ The Metropolis
2025-09-10
One would be spoilt for choices with their a la carte menu or buffet. Food wise and taste of dishes are acceptable and expected. Service was prompt at the Metropolis outlet which we visited. The minus points were:1) as our table was at the end of one corner, the sun rays were shining in and may cause discomfort to diners2) while dining, the aircon vent outlet was dripping which affected the dining experience 3) generally, tables were packed back to back and space can be quite tight and not easy to move around 4) at the time of visit, the mall toilets were under renovations and nearest toilets were at L1. Can be quite inconvenient5) as my order was a set menu, I was surprised when they informed me that they ran out of spinach and will be replaced with bok Choy. Bok Choy didn’t quite go well with the 3 kinds of eggs cooking method so it was a shame.…Read More

Food tasting session on 20 Feb
Amazonia Bistro
2016-02-23
Caesar salad with avocado - passable  :( :( Apple Juice - refreshing and cooling on a hot day but pricey and not worth the $$ :( :( :( Chef Nasi Goreng - chicken drumstick was tough and tasteless. Rice too spicy for my liking. Only satay was passable.  Chocolate fondant with ice cream - Those with a sweet tooth wouldLike this but I find it too sweet for my liking  :( :( :(  Spicy Garlic Tiger Prawn. Rice was too wet and prawns overly garlicky. Amazonia Bistro - Food Tasting notes on 20 FebWe were served 1 appetiser, 2 dishes, 1 drink and a dessert.1 appetiserCeasar Salad with Avocado ($13.80) - Pretty normal, nothing great but you won't go wrong especially if you like greens2 dishesChef Nasi Goreng ($12.70) - The rice was too spicy for my liking and the drumstick was tough and tasteless.Spicy Garlic Tiger Prawns ($15.20) - Basically white rice with 2 garlic tiger prawns with chill on its side. Prawns were alright but the rice was a tad too wet.1 drinkApple Juice ($5) - Cool and refreshing on a hot sunny day, but pricey1 dessertChocolate Fondant with Ice Cream - Those with a sweet tooth will like this but I find it a bit too sweet for my liking.Verdict : Unless you have kids who are at Amazonia for play, and you would like to have a munch while waiting for them, looking for other food outlets within GWC would be a better bet.Comes with chilli on the side.Overall verdict :  Eat only if there is no choice, or you can find better food elsewhere.…Read More

Food tasting nite on 21 Oct organized by OpenRice at Aone BKT . They took over the place which used to house Boston Seafood Shack at Star Vista. As for the dishes, there were some hits and misses. This marks their maiden venture into the BKT biz, trying to marry and blend in with their expertise in porridge making. Porridge dishes such as Pork ribs porridge and Minced meat with meatball porridge were generally alright but other dishes such as Ampang Yong Tau Foo, Assorted Vegetables in Sambal sauce and Dry BKT chicken cubes could be further improved, in my opinion as there are better BKT outlets out there. Soups such as Pork Ribs soup and Pig Organ's soup were aright, but nothing to shout about. …Read More
