Juicy Juicy Fried Chicken
Arnold's Fried Chicken
2010-07-30
To be away from the usual standard fast food chicken rest (u know this one..), I would highly recommend Arnold’s fried chicken. The place though, at a very ‘ulu’ shopping centre down in Geylang, it is always super congested with crowds .. be it families.. couples or students. Each time im there, I never fail to have to wait. Even on weekdays, on a off peak time. But the journey has always been a meaningful one because of the super fresh juicy fried chicken. The 2 pc chix meal which I ordered includes fries and coleslaw. Colelslaw tasted freshly made. Not forgetting the fried calamaris, fried chips..super super nice.... Lol!I would give them the thumbs up for all they have in the menu. MUST MUST TRY! Wish they would open up one branch in the west though as the location for all 3 branches are up in the east... …Read More

Celebrations..Celebrations!!!
Bali Thai
2010-07-30
My family frequents Bali Thai for special occasions.. birthdays, anniversaries, 1st pay check n so on. The place keeps popping in our mind each time we feel the need to celebrate…Probably because, at one time, when I called to reserve seats for my family, they reserved for us a special seating booth for us and we could be by ourselves for a mini birthday celebration, complete with cakes and candles. That might have given a lasting impression to my family and we keep requesting for the same place for our dinners there. And each time we have our dinners there, we would always order the same ol' but definitely delicious main dishes .Tahu Telor – not sure why but the black sauce that goes with the tahu telor are getting thicker and lesser each time we dine there. Nevertheless, I still order this without fail when we dine thereMango Salad – not my fave as it’s the mango salad are too sour at times but the dish is meant to have the sour taste.Green Curry – luv it..luv it.. I can just slurp on the gravy till dry. The mutton meat is sweet and succulent too.Beef Rendang – normal standard taste, nuthin special.. my dad luv it though.. keep asking me to order it…Cumi Bali – another fave of mine, will never fail to order this.. I can eat the whole dish by myself..heheh...but portions too small though..Ayam Panggang Bali – same taste as the cumi bali except its chicken….Next up... mommy's burfdae.. c u at Bali Thai....…Read More

ALL NIGHT LONGGG....
Ah Mei Café
2010-07-26
A place where myself and beloved bf have our frequent dinners and where many2 conversations, inner thoughts and future plans are pleasurely discussed between us. The absolute reason we dine here always is due to my bf super love and indulgence on their wanton mee be it dry or soup or….. maybe to the stall auntie that always painstakingly takes his order. Hmmmmm….lol! For me, as the place is less accessible and it equates to less people, and most importantly as pledged by my bf  me being an anti-social, this will be the perfect place to have our dinners by ourselves having long conversations uninterrupted! Minus the occasional times where the aunties who will clear our plates and wipe our tables diligently… Most of the menus have been tried and tested by us:Roti prata (be it plain, with egg or with cheese) –Super fluffy prata which are always made fresh for you on de spot, with super spicy curry on the side. The curry has always been consistent never too watery,so its just nice for you to dip your prata pieces in. Avoid coming on Sundays for the prata though, its super crowded!Wanton Mee –For me, it’s the taste is relatively standard. Still trying to figure why de bf has it for dinner without fail each time we dine there…haizzzzzz…Next pls…Chicken Rice – No specialty. Nothin’ much to comment about. Nevertheless, its good.Chicken Porridge – Any day of the week when I have the porridge, its consistent. My favourite part would be if you do not want shredded chicken, you can always tell them to change to roasted chicken or char siew chicken. There you go…. Try it for yourselves……Read More

Balik Kampong!!
Kampung Days Coffee
2010-07-15
While driving by Neil Rd scouting for a place to dine, we saw a staff from Kampung Days enthusiastically waving by drivers and passerbys. Appreciating his enthusiasm, we turn quickly turn right to park our car and happily made our way to the restaurant.Upon reaching the diner, we were welcomed by the same eager staff who quickly blurt out his long list of promotions. Service was excellent, food came in hot and fast! We ordered:Nasi Goreng Otah – Felt that the otah was quite small, though luv de pappadam touch on the rice set.Nasi Lemak – Sambal was tasty, requested for second serving. The rice was warm and drumstick freshly fried.Omelette – Liked the way the omelete was served and presented in rolls - thin slices. The omelette serving was a handful. Could not finish..Luv the ‘kampong atmosphere’.. Luv the antique cup it was served in..Luv the artificial attap leaves plus the black n white photos surrounding the restaurant.. …Read More

Best Place for a Quiet Weekend Lunch!
Sakae Sushi
2010-06-29
This will be the definitely be the best place to be away from the bustling crowds on weekends for lunch. And plus there is a playground for kids to play and run while the parents can have a decent conversation over lunch. And for dads, parking is spacious and free!! Lunch came quick due to less crowd, less ready sushi over the travellator though probably due to low expectations of crowd in the area over the weekend. But advantage would be all the sushi are freshly made. Salmon Sashimi – fresh! Hana Maki – fresh!Chawanmushi – piping hot!Salmon Kariaage – fresh and piping hot! (dis came only after 3x of asking!!)Vege Kariaage – fresh and piping hot!Salmon Skin Temaki – fresh and crunchy!Softshell Crab Temaki - fresh and crunchy!Spicy Salmon Sushi – fresh! One minus point though , as less crowd = bored staff, therefore it was hard to get their attention, we always had to wave anxiously for attention once we see a staff passed by. Nevertheless, this will be a place we always choose when we want a serene and peaceful weekend lunch for our family. …Read More

Terry Katong Laksa
Terry Katong Laksa
2010-06-25
Order 2 bowls of laksa for me and my bf. The moment we went up his stall, someone took our order and within minutes the food came to our table.. how quick! 1st thought though - the bowl is so small.. but when paid - the price so cheap!! (S$3 per bowl). Plus sugarcane drink and S$1 for a large mug... So definitely good for our pockets...Proportionate amount of prawns & cockles given in each bowl..Lurve the part that de noodles are cut into small pieces, easy to eat and slurp plus the gravy is just right not too thick thus not so sinful to finish all the gravy in the bowl Will definite return there for many dinners to come...…Read More
