choco italiano
PastaMania
2014-05-08
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2011/05/31/choco-italiano-pastamania/A very chocolatey bite from Pastamania! The chocolate was real thick and oozing out. It's hot!The nuts were very crunchy and was a good companion of the chocolate italiano. The strawberry makes it look more presentable and tasty to eat. However, I think it would be good if there were more fruits on it for a better presentation and taste.Super heaty and sinful dessert but overall it was quite a good combination.…Read More

hazelnut chocolate and green tea ice cream
Brownice
2014-05-08
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/07/13/brownice-ice-creams-8-sin-ming-road/I tried the hazelnut chocolate and green tea ice cream. Hazelnut wise, it was quite fragrant with a chocolate-y taste. Not the best I've tasted so far but still passable. It would be better if the hazelnut taste was stronger. Green tea ice cream was thick and hardly goes wrong. I'm a green tea fan! It also has a slight milky green tea taste. Very white theme layout - makes the place looks huge and classy. You may also ask for a teaspoon sample of the ice creams before deciding which to order.…Read More

walnut chocolate fondue set
Breeks Cafe
2014-05-08
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2012/08/26/breeks-cafe-northpoint/I ordered the $9.80++ walnut chocolate fondue set.Typical fondue and fruits, very common but still it’s a nice mixture and presentation though I thought it’s too pricey for such simple desserts. The marshmellows were very soft and fluffy though. It would be better if the chocolate fondue was slightly hotter. Not too thick a chocolate taste so I was a little disappointed. Most importantly, if everywhere else is crowded, try Breeks Cafe for I believe there should be some seats left.Despite the empty cafe, our walnut fondue took more than 20 minutes to reach us.I think Breeks Cafe is an okay choice if you don’t mind the price.MEHHHHH… that’s just my opinion. The choice is yours. …Read More

eat mango sago pomelo
Ah Chew Desserts
2014-05-05
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2010/04/23/ah-chew-desserts-liang-seah-street/Please try the mango sago pomelo! It's a relatively big bowl of cold dessert. Mango lovers will melt at this! The mango is super duper thick, and the portions of the sago and pomelo is also quite a lot. Very addictive. Good combination, it will get you craving for more and more. Rating: 4.5/5!Suitable for hot weathers like Singapore.Usually quite packed / got queue but it's quite fast, so fret not!…Read More

mutton satay
Xu Zhong Xing
2014-04-30
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/08/29/xu-zhong-xing-chong-pang-market-food-centre/Mutton Satays @ Xu Zhong Xing @ Chong Pang Market & Food Centre!!!!!!! This stall usually has a long queue and their service attitude is not so good. The guy would say please only queue if you're willing to wait. Wait time: minimum 20 minutes to an hour when it gets crazy. The satays tasted normal to me so I don’t understand why the queue at times. Flavourful and normal like any other stall satays. Perhaps just slightly more flavourful than the other stalls of satay?I’m a ketupat and cucumber fan though! So I thought the ketupat and cucumber were great side dishes to accompany the flavourful satay. Chewing on the ketupat makes me full and the cucumber gives a good refreshing taste.…Read More

so so lor mee
Xin Mei Xiang
2014-04-30
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/12/22/xin-mei-xiang-zheng-zong-lor-mee-old-airport-road-hawker-centre/There's loads of fishes in it...... which I think was great! However, the lor mee was a little too sticky to my liking. The paste actually doesn't have much taste either. And there's a forever long queue.......... which I don't know why, maybe because there's only 1 guy cooking? But I'm pretty amazed that there's always a queue each time I'm there.I personally don't think it's so good to the extent that I've to queue for at least 30 minutes for a bowl of lor mee.I doubt I'll queue again!…Read More

Xiang Ji Lor Mee Zha Jiang Mian
2014-04-30
http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/11/03/xiang-ji-lor-mee-old-airport-road-hawker-centre/First, you got to be patient if you want to eat this lor mee. Its queue is forever so long and the minimum waiting time is around 40 minutes. I've no idea what's so special about this lor mee with its horribly long queue. I think the cook's kinda slow and there's only one guy cooking so probably that's why it takes a long time?Food wise, I thought it was too sticky. The paste was kind of too sticky to eat. I prefer less sticky ones. It's also quite salty and flavourful.I've to admit the fried fish was quite tasty and unique though. But I don't think I'll eat it again, the queue's too long!!!!!!!!Try it only if you're free to queue.…Read More

Huge prawns
Whitley Rd Big Prawn Noodle
2014-04-30
Prawn noodles is a very classic bowl of noodles that hardly goes wrong. Sometimes when I don't know what to order, I'll always settle for a bowl of prawn noodles. The texture of the noodles and kuay tiao is very slippery. The soup's extremely flavourful with a strong prawn taste. It's very sweet and thick too!The prawns are also quite big and juicy.I ordered the pork ribs prawn noodles and sadly, the pork ribs were a little on the hard side. There is usually a queue for this stall so be prepared to wait around 10 to 15 minutes. One bowl costs $5, decently good.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/11/10/whitley-rd-big-prawn-noodle-old-airport-road-hawker-centre/…Read More

Whampoa BBQ Seafood & Chicken Wing
2014-04-30
Some hawker food delights!1. The very long queue wet wet hokkien mee – It’s fried wet enough and the noodles were slim, the way I like it. It would be perfect if the prawns were bigger and fresher. Picky me! I’m not a chilli lover but the chilli looked good to me even though I didn't taste it. Overally a pretty hot plate of hokkien mee and kind of flavourful. I like that it's cooked till very wet. Delicious! The mee is soft and the beehoon is very slim.2. The long queue BBQ wings that everyone’s buying BECAUSE CHICKEN WINGS ARE SO TASTY AND HANDY TO EAT! Squeeze some lime to totally get the best feel of the chicken wing.3. The forever super long queue rojak ex-president SR Nathan ate before – It’s a overwhelming plate of rojak with a whole lot of sauce. The sauce had a special tinge of freshness that’s not commonly tasted. The chilli companion went well with the sauce too. Nothing special about the ingredients used – the usual ones just like any other rojaks.4. The short queue xiao long bao dim sum that’s oh so juicy. Many more stalls I've yet to try!http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2012/09/22/whampoa-hawker-blk-90-whampoa/…Read More

BBQ food
Chomp Chomp Hai Wei Yuan Seafood BBQ
2014-04-30
I had coconut drink - big jug of sweet coconut juice with some coconut meats to eat. BBQ chicken wings never go wrong - they only got me craving for more and more especially by squeezing lime onto it!Lala - sinful seafood but very chewy! Sambal kang kong was very crunchy and spicy enough.Sambal stingray was also pretty spicy but meaty - very worth it especially with the lime squeezed on it as well. Overally decently good BBQ food.I would suggest to order rice to go with all the BBQ food - otherwise it might be a little too spicy or salty by eating the dishes on its own.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2014/03/07/spicy-food-chomp-chomp-food-centre/…Read More

Classic pontian wanton noodles
Pontian Wanton Noodles
2014-04-30
The wanton noodles costs $4.00 per bowl. Quite generous servings of cha siew. Very sweet tasting. Got crispy wanton - a little oily though. Wantons in the soup had a very soft skin and meaty wantons. Soup's very flavourful and pretty hot. Noodles texture quite springy, goes well with tomato and a bit of chilli sauce. The chilli's not spicy, so don't worry.Add $1 for an additional drink or dessert. I chose the green bean soup which had a lot of sago in it - my favourite!Decently cheap for a simple meal. Cafe ambience - not so crowded during dinner time as well.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/08/24/pontian-wanton-noodles-graffiti-cafe-jem/…Read More

BBQ Food
Changi Village
2014-04-28
Changi Village is a place that I would frequent for BBQ food, chicken wings, lala, sting ray, sambal kang kong and so much more. Lots of stalls to choose from but more or less they are selling the same type of food.Lots of sambal food and hot and spicy food. Most dishes are cooked when ordered, so the dishes are usually piping hot.I've tried a few stalls and most of the time I realised the waiting time for chicken wings is usually longer. All the BBQ chicken wings goes well with some squeezed lime in it.Price range of BBQ food starts from $6 onwards for vegetables and $8 onwards for sambal food like sting ray.Not to forget to order either sugarcane juice or coconut drink to wash down all the food.Typically crowded from 6+ pm onwards so be prepared for about 10 to 15 minutes or more of waiting time.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2010/08/12/changi-village-food-centre-2-changi-village-road/…Read More

Chicken Rice
Ji De Lai Hainanese Chicken Rice
2014-04-28
Very fragrant rice - rice is slightly hard but still acceptable. Decent serving of one bowl and not too oily. The chicken is served cold and goes well with the soy sauce. The chicken's skin and meat are super soft and tender, but the portion is not a lot. It would be better if they are more willing to give a bigger portion of chicken, if not you might be like me and felt that the meat's not enough.I love the oyster sauce vegetables loads. It's more worth it to order the set meal as it comes with this plate of yummy oyster sauce vegetables, and completes the meal with enough fibre for the body. There might be a queue during lunch and dinner time so be prepared to wait a while.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/ji-de-lai-hainanese-chicken-rice-chong-pang-market/…Read More

Nasi Lemak
Mizzy Corner Nasi Lemak
2014-04-28
Extremely crispy chicken wing - you can definitely enjoy the crispness as you bite into it. Chicken wings hardly go wrong! And it's quite a big chicken wing and not those malnutritioned ones that can be finished off in a few mouthfuls. The chicken wing is also piping hot and slightly salty. Good taste, not plainly chicken wing without any flavours.Normal egg but served slightly cold, so I didn't really like it. Maybe they cooked too much to standby. Rice was nothing fanciful or overly delicious taste, just some coconut fragrance in it. Luckily, it's a bit warm and not served cold rice.Too salty ikan bilis though... way too salty.Good chilli, very sweet tasting with a little spice. I might consider eating it again due to its chilli.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2013/11/22/mizzy-corner-nasi-lemak-changi-village/…Read More

Frog porridge
Chinatown Food Street Hot/ Cold Beverage . Fresh Fruit Juices
2014-04-28
Frog porridge is piping hot! Sizzling bowl of porridge in a hot claypot. Not too watery and not too sticky. Just right texture, but slightly towards the sticky side but still acceptable.Chewy frogs - very tender meat. Portion wise about 4 to 5 frog legs for a $8 bowl worth of frog porridge. Not much taste though. It would be better if it's more flavourful.Anyway, it's better to use a small bowl for easy eating and cooling of the porridge.http://phuachiuyen.wordpress.com/2014/03/16/chinatown-food-street-chinatown/…Read More
