Still a favourite
Indonesian Panggang - Techno Edge
2012-06-06
This is really awesome stuff! At just $4+ you get a huge chicken leg, rice with generous serving of gravy, great chilli and curry vegetables! I always order their grilled chicken as it is their speciality as well as my favourite. I am always full after eating this as the chicken is huge and both the servings of rice and vegetables are generous. The vegetables are optional and sell out very quickly. They usually run out of vegetables by 2pm in the afternoon. 9/10…Read More

Not bad, but too small for the price!
Little Red Shop
2012-06-06
I had this as a before lunch snack. It was really good! The pastry was thin and flaky and the filling was just the right amount of salty. The filling was also slightly moist and not too dry. However, I did not like the size of the tau sar piah as it was too small! I paid $1.20 for this and I feel that it is 3/4 the size of a normal tau sar piah that you can get elsewhere.Nice but expensive 8/10…Read More

Average
284 Mixed Vegetable Rice
2012-06-06
I ordered this for lunch as the queues at the other stalls were too long and I was in a rush. Rice was served generously but it was not well cooked and the gravy given was too little. The potato cubes were nice and the vegetables tasty and crunchy. The pork was too hard and I had a hard time chewing. All in all, just an average meal 6/10…Read More

Not recommended
Duck Kway Chap.Rice.Noodle.Porridge.Mini Kway Teow.Chicken Rice.
2012-06-04
Ate this for lunch and was very disappointed. Although the rice is brown in colour, it is actually quite tasteless. The rich was also low-quality rice that tasted starchy. The amount of duck given is very little, less than 2 tablespoons, but was soft and well-cooked. Serving of rice was quite generous but all in all, I do not suggest you try their duck rice. Not worth the money at all.…Read More

Tasty and filling
Manna Korean Restaurant - Canteen 13
2012-06-03
The Korean BBQ Chicken set comes with a bowl of rice, kimchi and soup. The kimchi was too sour for my liking and I ended up not finishing it. The rice was nice and chewy, and of the short-grain variety. I was given a generous serving of chicken which was slightly spicy. I was rather astonished to discover that the stall does not cook the chicken on the spot. Instead, they warm up the hot plate and scoop some pre-cooked warm chicken onto the hot plate. Overall taste test: 7.5/10…Read More

So-so only
Xiang Ji Hong Kong Roasted Meat Rice Noodles
2012-06-03
The serving of roasted duck meat is generous and the meat is tender and well-flavoured with the sauce. An egg is given instead of cucumber slices. The white rice served is generous but not the braised duck rice kind. I felt that the sauce given was too little and the rice was not well-cooked. It was a little hard and difficult to chew.It is not hard to look for a better alternative next time you're in the area. 6.5/10…Read More

My regular choice: Italian B.M.T
Subway
2012-06-03
I like the Italian B.M.T because it is more flavourful than the other options that Subway offers. Also, the meat is more chewy and has more fats. I ordered this sandwich with lettuce, tomatoes, onions and olives. This time, I also asked for double cheese, however it did not really make a difference to the taste. Next time you are ordering this, try mixing two sauces: sweet onion and mayo. The resultant sandwich is deliciously sweet, salty and creamy. Highly recommended 9/10…Read More

Good ol' beancurd
Rochor Beancurd House
2012-06-03
After a full lunch, my friends and I had a nice chat over a few bowls of beancurd. I ordered a cold beancurd. The beancurd was soft and smooth and did not have that powdery aftertaste that some of them do. The syrup was not too sweet and just nice. Value for money and worth a try 8/10…Read More

A hearty breakfast
Starbucks
2012-06-03
I like Starbuck's bagels because they are really worth $3.60 unlike the muffins and other pastries or cakes. I added a pot of cream cheese, because bagels taste best with cream cheese. For my drink, I chose my regular favourite, a tall Caramel Macchiato. The bagel was toasted but I felt that it was not warm enough. I like my bagels warm and toasty so the cream cheese will melt when I spread it on. Anyway, it was still a good breakfast and the caramel macchiato complemented the slightly salty cream cheese very well. If I have to say I don't like something, it would be the skin of the bagel. The thin glazed skin was very tough and hard to cut with the knife. Overall a good choice 8/10…Read More

Generous serving, but a little too bland
May Chin Fish Porridge
2012-06-03
I ordered this for lunch one day and was surprised by the amount of bee hoon given for a $3.50 meal. I felt very bloated and full after finishing it. The bee hoon is the thin type, and very smooth. there were slices of fish, a bit of vegetables and some mushrooms in the soup. The serving of fish slices was not very generous, but adequate. I did not like the soup as I found it too bland for my liking. The taste of the milk was not detectable as well.Value for money 7/10…Read More

Not a bad choice
Cheng Long Fish Soup - Kopitiam
2012-06-03
I was looking for something that was not fried, not spicy and not savoury so I chose to fall back on the trusty fish soup. The fish soup from this stall is on the whole not bad, but I found the bee hoon a little too thick. It was more like chu mee fen than bee hoon really. The fish was soft and well-cooked and there were tomatoes in the soup! That's a plus point for me, because it makes the meal healthier. 7.5/10…Read More

I love criss-cut fries!
McDonald's
2012-06-03
I usually don't order Filet-O-Fish because its not filling enough for me, but this time I wasn't too hungry so I went ahead and ordered a regular Filet meal. I topped up the bill by 60cents and changed the fries to criss-cut fries. This was my first time trying the criss-cut fries and I love them! I find them more solid than normal fries. You can actually taste the potato in the fries. Its also tastier and not just salty!I would definitely go back again, just to eat the fries 8/10…Read More

Best Strudel in Singapore!
Ritz Apple Strudel
2012-06-03
I love eating strudels, that delicious mix of crisp pastry, goey custard and fresh fruits is to die for!My friends and I decided to have an after-lunch snack and shared 2 half strudels. I personally like the Mango strudel more, as the mangoes were ripe and had a sour and sweet taste. I did not really like the Apple strudel as much, because the apples were preserved and sweetened. Even so, I have tried their strawberry and durian strudels as well and all of them were great!…Read More

Tastes great!
Red Mango
2012-06-03
There are so many yogurt bars in Singapore nowadays, its hard to choose which to patronize! I like Red Mango for their thick frozen yogurt mix which is smooth and retains that slightly sour yogurt-y taste. I ordered their original flavour, and added blueberries. The blueberries were not particularly fresh, but still great. Their small yogurt costs $3.20 and toppings cost an additional $1…Read More

Great for lunch and dinner
The Soup Spoon
2012-06-03
If you're looking for a healthier alternative, look no further! Soup Spoon offers both nutritious and pocket-friendly meals that actually taste good!My mum, sis and I decided to lunch at Soup Spoon one Saturday while shopping as we wanted something good and did not require any queuing. I ordered the Tokyo Stew and a Thai Chicken Vermicelli. My favourite soup so far, out of the 5 that I have tried. This is a clear broth, but its layered flavour hints at hours of stewing, unlike the MSG flavoured soups you get some places. The soup has chicken chunks, carrots, mushrooms and lotus roots.Another favourite of mine, this salad comes with a slightly sour and spicy sauce that you can drizzle over the greens, vermicelli and chicken bits. The blend of sour and spicy makes this a suitable appetizer. My mum ordered the Tokyo Stew as well, but with the Indochine Prawn wrap. She initially wanted to try the Roast Duck wrap but it was unavailable that day. According to her, the wrap tasted a little like my Thai Chicken Vermicelli, but less sour. I took a bite of her wrap to try, and I still find my salad the better choiceMy sister tried the Boston Clam Chowderwhich is a thick starchy soup with lots of clam in it. I felt that the chowder was very jelat. But tasty as a whole and might be suitable for someone looking for a filling meal. All in all, Soup Spoon remains my top choice for a satisfying lunch or dinner. Its also very worthwhile to eat here during the weekends because they have buddy and family promotion packages!9/10…Read More
