Good Asian spread
Asian Market Café
2014-09-21
I booked a table for 6 last week and was happy to see quite a good spread of Asian delight on a Friday evening. I love the fresh cold seafood selection- fresh oyster, slipper lobster, mussel and prawns. The vegetable salads were fresh with a few selection of dressing. However, I'm not too thrilled abt the Hainaness chicken rice- the rice is rather dry but the steamed chicken is moist and juicy with the tasty chilli sauce .i like that there's achar to go along with it. Their lamb and chicken satays are tender and the peanut sauce is nice too. Next I tried the grilled lamb chop which goes well with the tamarind sauce- but I'd rather they provide mint sauce for lamb. There is also roti john of 3 types: plain, chicken or mutton and I personally like the mutton one. The other local selections are sambal sting ray is too sweet for my liking, and the chilli crab is also sweet but spicy and this goes well with the fried mantou. There is even stir-fried mixed vegetables (chap chye) which is so-so. For the not-so-adventurous, there's fried bee Hoon and fried rice. The other side of the buffet are usually the Thai and Indian spread. But last week there's nyonya laksa. It's quite tasty tho a little salty and I wish they hadn't grinded the laksa leaves so fine. They are not quick to replenish the prawns and fish cakes. I love the Thai steam fish tho I find the herbal chicken abit too mild. Patrons of the restaurant could also orderon-the -spot roti Prata who hv goes well with the Dalca and chicken curry.…Read More

Yummy Lontong
Yok Mari Yok
2014-09-17
My son loves the lontong at this stall. He likes it that they give quite a generous amount of vegetables in the lemak gravy. The lontong is more often than not, served with the spicy coconut or serunding and egg sambal.  The lontong is tasty and the sambal a little spicy. However, sometimes they run out of serunding so we got to eat without it. Depending on the time of the day, sometimes we had to endure the long queue at the stall. And this stall seems to stand for years amidst the many changing hands of the neighbour stallsSo it speaks volume abt their food.…Read More

Bee Hoon goreng seafood
R.K. Eating House
2014-09-16
Was feeling hungry but sick of Prata so decided to try their fried seafood beehoon . Ask for kicap version (black sauce) but noodles seem lighter in colour. Ate anyway. The dish was tasty. Generous amount of noodles and seafood- which was surprising. Usually stalls or restaurants will gv 1 prawns and very few slides of sotong but here I've abt 3-4 medium prawns and some sotong slices and fishcake. Didn't ask for fried sunny side up egg but was given. Then asked for bill and the dish alone was $6.40 (including gst). Abit pricey for a mama coffeeshop I feel.…Read More

Siput sedut in lemak a must!
Hjh Maimunah Restaurant & Catering
2014-09-14
If you love Siput sedut (chut chut) in spicy lemak gravy then this is the place for it! I love the dish especially served with fresh greens (a simple salad of kacang botol- winged beans, long beans and sometimes baby brinjals) embedded or aside the refreshing but killer sambal belacan! Wow just writing this review make me salivate haha. Also I love the paru belado (fried beef lungs in cili), the grilled fish and urap (mix of bean sprout, sometimes kangkong, long beans in spicy coconut dressing). Their beef bakso is nice- I like it without noodles with only the need balls and mustard green (Sawi). And I'll usually order my favourite honeydew cordial to cool me down as I eat the above scrumptious spread. And the meal usually last me till supper. Coz it's way filling 😆…Read More

Kids love maggi goreng
Salamath Islamic Restaurant
2014-09-14
My kids keep asking for maggi goreng. Personally I find the dish so-so but for some reasons my kids love then. My 12 year old girl will ask for maggi goreng with chicken whereas my 16 year old boy likes it plain. If they ordered on their own they'll ask for maggi goreng without veggie 😠.. As for me, I like their mutton soup esp the ribs or the tulang soup. I find the gravy thick and tasty. I tried their biryani too. I like the soft rice texture but I feel they can do better with their mutton pieces- I prefer my mutton in chunks with the bones but they seem to cut their mutton into small pieces so there's no kick. Also they're stingy with the side acar- or rather slices of cucumber... whatever happens go side pineapple achar or cucumber achar alongside biryani these days?…Read More

Classified Chicken is a must!
Domino's Pizza
2014-09-07
Of all the pizzas I've tried locally, Domino's is one that I'll recommend and continue to support. The Classified Chicken pizza is a must try. I simply love the sour cream sauce tho I do hope they'd be a little more generous with the fresh button mushroom. The chicken pieces and onions are just nice- not too much or too little. I'm happy with the frequent promotions (2 extra large pizza at $44) but if only Domino's could provide cheese powder, not just chilli flakes.…Read More

Nice ambience
Spuds & Aprons
2014-09-07
First time there and I'm amazed by the beautiful ambience.  The tables are clean and the utensils clean too. The place is cosy and the staff quite attentive. I had dessert - Haagen daz ice cream with sliced almonds, salted caramel, strawberry compote and it's simply beautiful and delightfully presented (I'm a sucker for well presented food). However, the pineapple and cranberry juice are abit diluted and too much ice put into the drinks- otherwise all is good.…Read More

No nasi ambeng
Pu3 Restaurant
2014-09-07
Went all the way to try the talked -about nasi ambeng but was disappointed to be told that nasi ambeng has to be "reserved". So among the selection of food spread, I was toldI cannot order beef rendang, chicken lemak and sambal goreng (why display then)? You all could have prepared extra to serve walk-in customers who're not aware of your pre-order policy. So I ended up ordering whatever leftover that were displayed. The bitter gourd was hard, the spices fried chicken a little hard and the sambal belacan a little sour. Otherwise other dishes that we ordered: chut-chut in lemak, terung belado, begedil, tempeh goreng and paru goreng are tasty. Hope you all can receive criticism and i do hope to come back and see improvement. …Read More
