Yum yum yum yum yum
Din Tai Fung
2012-12-29
Mood: Out of all chains of Din Tai Fung around the world, Singapore has the best outlet I have eaten in so far. (Better than Guangzhou, Hong Kong & surprisingly, better than the original DTF in Taipei!) For those of you DTF maniacs who wishes to go on a pilgrimage to the Taipei shop, don't bother. You are much much better off staying here in Singapore. While quality is theoretically consistent, this Somerset branch has slightly better lemon grass drinks than other branches. The sesame buns, veggie dumplings & standard xiao long bao are the must try. …Read More

Singapore Zam Zam
2012-12-29
Mood: If you don't like the following:1) Tonnes of Eggs.2) Tonnes of Cheese.3) Your standard American portion (suffice for 4 Chinese with average appetite).4) Very heavy food.5) Very greasy food.6) Very big portion....Don't even consider stepping in Singapore Zam Zam. (no matter how wonderful your lonely planet / traveler's magazine tells you this place is.)This was one of the most unusual breakfast with my husband (he is a very, very small eater). We ordered the deer mutabak only. I swear to God, with the portion's size & the heaviness combined (abundant with egg, cheese and venison) it was sufficient for 6 people so we ended up leaving more than 2/3 of it behind. Taste-wise it was alright. I wouldn't judge whether you or your friend should go to this place since it wasn't our kind of food, but may very well be yours. The up side is that Singapore Zam Zam is very budget friendly esp. in proportion to such gigantic portion.…Read More

Exceptionally noisy & not as good as other outlets
Fish & Co.
2012-12-27
Mood: :)Love the fish & chips & the Atlantic Cod Fillet with Tomato Coulis. The chips are fried just right, but the Fish & Chips & the Atlantic Cods weren't as good as those served in the Suntec City outlet (now closed). The iPad ordering system saved a lot of time for us. One minus about this place is that, due to the noisy reflective quality of the wall here, all noises were amplified which made sitting in this outlet unbearable once the crowd gathered. Otherwise, the food matches with the Fish & Co usual quality. …Read More

Hidden South Indian Food Paradise
Saravanaa Bhavan
2012-12-27
My Emotion: If you remotely consider trying out South Indian dishes - THIS IS IT. No wonder there are so many folks waiting patiently outside all time.Dosas were crunchy, the assorted masala veg were cooked just right the idly & the aapam, served with coconut milk were simply heavenly - with a crunchy edge & a soft, tender middle. I loved it so much that I just kept visiting this place & turned my eyes to no other. …Read More

Grossly overstated
Ma Maison
2012-12-27
My emotion: Visited during yesterday's lunchtime. This restaurant's alleged forte is at its dessert & japanese curry set & those are, at best, mediocre. Ordered a Lemon Tart + Tuna & Avocado roe. The Lemon Tart was very average. The Tuna & Avocado roe took 25 minutes to serve & was grossly overdone with eggs & mayonnaise. The only good that came out of this place was its escagot. Not recommended for serious foodies, but if you wish to find a place to sit, relax with friends & just sip a few drinks & have mediocre dessert, why not?…Read More
