Heard much from my friend about this restaurant and decided to try one afternoon. After checking out their menu for a very long time, I finally decided on a curry fish head.The curry head cost only $25++ and they serve a whole head, good for 2 people, and unlike cheap zi char stalls who give half head. The manager is also kind enough to make the curry less spicy for us.The fish is fresh enough, and the huge head provides a good amount of meat, and the curry has a really strong indian taste. However, the curry is also incredibly oily; a thick layer of red oil lies over the curry. I'm not particularly health conscience, but I got a little afraid at the oil layer.Maybe I might think of this when I feel like having Indian cuisines, but it won't be frequent though.…查看更多

It's my first ORTU and I'm at Dallas Restaurant & Bar! It's no coincidence that both the restaurant and I are named "Dallas" because it's a really awesome name! And it's not all just names; this restaurant serves up some really good food too.About 12 different dishes were served up, and I will explain why this 8 are my favourite.The first dish to be served up is the lamb sliders. These miniature burgers looks rather simple to prepare, with just a minced lamb patty, some sauce and a few pieces of vege, but they taste quite okNext up is Breaded Mushroom. There are many restaurants that serve sides similar to this, but none done as well as this restaurant. The mushroom is breaded together with cheese and fried, then served with a little mayonnaise on top. It's so good that the little boy across the table finished 3!Served together with the Breaded Mushroom is Salt & Pepper Calamari. It's quite ordinary, but I thing I noted is that it's fried quite well and not oily. But I'm not sure how the salt & pepper came about..Next is Alabama Pork Ribs. I'm not familiar with Alabama cuisine, but it sure taste kind of Indian style to me. The meat slides clean off the bone and the meat is marinated such that every inch is full of flavour.The last platter to be served up is the Chicken Tikka with Coriander Mint Sauce. Months back, I had a meal in a luxurious Indian restaurant and was served Chicken Tikka as well, and to my delight, Dallas restaurant managed to re-create that taste! The meat is well marinated and flavour is just right. Definitely one of my favourites.Moving on to the first main course with a full stomach, is Avocado Chicken Parmigiana. Forget the fancy name, it's basically chicken cutlet baked with tomato pasta sauce and a thick layer of cheese. It's the first time I've taste something like this, and I'm hooked! And to add on, the portion is really huge. In my opinion, this is the best value for money dish in terms of both price and taste. However, I didn't manage to taste any avocado inside, and honestly, I won't even know until I've seen the name of the dish, nonetheless, it's still a fantastic dish.2nd last up is Beef & Chicken Fajitas. The fun part is where you can prepare your own popiah (for singapore style) or taco (mexican style). I'm not sure if I supposed to do this but I added a little of every sauce, and it does taste kind of weird. Something new and worth trying, but I probably won't come back for this one.The last dish is kind of shocked me a little, both name and portion. The portion is quite huge because the restaurant kindly served us a full rack, and having the name "fiery" sends chills down my spine. Half of the rack is supposed to be sweet, and the other half, spicy. But both halves are equally sweet, and not spicy at all, in terms of my low chili tolerance level. Like the Alabama Pork Ribs, it is well seasoned and the meat slides clean off the rib. The only difference is probably the Fiery & Berri Pork Ribs is sweeter, and has the BBQ sauce flavour to it.Overall, I like the ambiance of the restaurant with nice comfy cushions and excellent service. I've enjoyed most of the food served during the ORTU because it's mostly meat, and meat is my best friend. I first saw a long queue in front of this dessert stall. Only 2 things will make Singaporeans queue up, either it's cheap or it's good, or both. Well, this dessert stall happen to serve pretty good desserts at low low prices.For $1, you can get Ice Kacang, or most other ice based desserts. The ice kacang may not be that huge, but the good taste and cheap price makes it all worthwhile. The ice shavings are quite smooth, and the ingredients below the ice are so plentiful, but the only downside is the lack of sugar syrup.This is one dessert stall you won't want to miss!…查看更多

Got quite tired of eating around my house, so I moved a little further out and came to Tanglin Halt food centre. I never really liked to come here because of the lack of variety of food here. In fact, not many stalls are opened in the few stalls available.Nevertheless, I still found this stall of lor mee to my liking. Each bowl starts from $2.50, but I opted for the $3 one, and it's packed full of goodies. Inside, there is fish cake, ngoh hiang, egg, 3 layered pork, and pork cutlet, and fried wanton! Ordered this Katsu Curry Udon at Waraku today, for $15.90++. Prices have been adjusted up since the last time I was here.What I like about this curry udon is the huge portion of udon and pork cutlet. The pork cutlet feels really solid, but since the fried pork cutlet is left soaking in the curry, the pork cutlet isn't crunchy or crispy when eating it. Maybe they should have left it on a plate or something. Another of my favourite is the curry. This stall at ABC food centre has been one of my top choice for porridge because of the good taste, good quantity and cheap price.However, this today's trip to this stall left me a little disappointed because they raised prices for their porridge from $0.30 to $0.50 per bowl, the quantity has decreased, and the taste has downgraded. This is still one of the better stalls out there, but no longer as good as before.The raw fish still taste as good, but has seen a reduction in quantity as well.I will still recommend this stall and come back to eat, but not as much.…查看更多

I'm quite surprised that there is only 1 review on place so far, because such good food should let known to more people.I first known about this stall 2 years ago from my father who claims this is the best duck rice & porridge in Singapore. Skeptical, because I never liked duck, even till now (except this stall), I came here to give it a try. I tried it and I was instantly blown away! There are a couple of things that make me love this.1) The duck meat is cooked in such a way, it's really smooth, even smoother than chicken!2) Duck meat has this distinctive smell, which I don't like, but it's not present in this duck3) The sauce is an absolute killer. It's has an unique flavour, starchy and wraps around the duck giving it full of flavour.4) It's 100% boneless.But it doesn't come cheap. Drop by Holland village for a little dessert and found this dessert stall. I ordered a mango ice kacang for $2.10, which is reasonably price in Holland village.But this stall does not fair well in taste. Ice is quite rough, not enough sugar syrup. Other than that, it's just an average tasting ice kacang and nothing special about this stall.I won't come here specially for this, but if I'm at this hawker centre again, I won't mind having it again.…查看更多

I never quite liked other fruit juices, after the horrible experience of having celery taste inside my juice when I didn't order that. Seems like most stalls don't wash their juicer after using it, so I avoided all drinks that use juicers entirely since then.This strawberry milkshake, on the other hand, is made with a blender, and has fresh strawberries, and UHT milk blended together into a smooth mix. The stall owner doesn't add any water to the blend, so it maintains it's full flavour and not diluted. I've come today to the only western food stall in Bukit Merah Central try out their chicken cutlet. For $5, the portion seems quite small initially, but after eating, I found out that it's just the plate that is much over-sized.The chicken surprised me a little because it has a kind of herb/spice taste in the chicken, something that is uniquely different from other chicken cutlet. However, it was a little letdown as the chef over fried the chicken and left the meat rather dry. The oil is also not properly drained off, and oil is flowing all over the plate...Not recommended for health conscious people.…查看更多

Decided to visit Coffee bean again after a month or two. Although The Coffee Bean is very slightly more expensive than Starbucks, I still prefer The Coffee Bean for their smoother ice blends, and more chocolaty taste in their mocha drinks.I got my favourite large Mocha Ice Blended as usual, for about $7.40. The ice was blended pretty well, and the chocolate taste in the mocha was very strong, just how I like it, but still not losing the coffee flavour. One of Ikea's signature food is the hot dog. For $1 each, you get an not so cheap sausage in a hot dog bread. If that isn't good enough value, you can opt for a set of hot dog, drink, and ice cream, all for a very economical price of $2.One of the best things about Ikea hot dog is that the sauces is up to the customer to add, compared to other places where the sauces are like gold and vendors don't want to give a little more. But what I like most is the use of a different kind of sausage. So far Ikea is the only shop I've seen in Singapore that offer sausages instead of chicken franks, and sure, the taste is distinctly different.It's a must-eat if you're coming to Ikea!…查看更多

Come to old airport road hawker centre for my favourite BBQ stingray stall, but unfortunately it's not listed, so I can't review that. But I can review my main course, which is this plate of Carbonara. This stall caught my attention with a short queue, and an awesome fragrance I just couldn't resist.And so I bought a plate of my favourite pasta, Carbonara for $5.50. It isn't expensive, considering that I've eaten pasta that cost $8 at hawker centres. The taste is just fantastic. First of all, the cream sauce is thick, creamy and cheesy. Secondly, the stall is generous with the ingredients such as bacon and mushrooms. I had always loved Astons for providing tasty meals and cozy environment for a budget price. And that's why I've come to Astons again today! Like most Astons, the queue is always very long during meal times, and this time it's no exception.I ordered a Chicken & Sausage combo with pasta salad and potato salad as my sides, and it cost $12.90. Portion is quite alright, just enough to fill me. Chicken is nicely grilled and the black pepper sauce makes it even better. The sausages has some cheese inside which makes it tastier. Overall, really pleased with the quality of food served. However, I feel that paying $5 extra for 6 smalls sausages isn't very economical, and I probably stick with their normal $7.90 meals next time.…查看更多

I purposely came down during lunch today to try out this famous scissor-cut curry rice with my father after seeing a really long queue while passing by a few days before. According to my father, this is the first scissor-cut curry rice in Singapore.My first impression of the stall is that they sell very different dishes from other curry rice stalls. And so, I ordered some ngoh hiang, braised pork chop, cabbage and egg for about $4. The presentation is as bad as it can get, but I'm not deterred by any awful looking food as long as it taste good.After the meal, I felt that the taste doesn't suit me. The curry and the combination of red and black gravy isn't my cup of tea. For the record, I do love curry rice a lot. Other than the ngoh hiang which is quite good, the rest I don't like.
