Pretty Yogurt
llaollao
2014-12-31
So what is one of the latest food fad to hit Singapore and flood our instagram feed a few months ago? Llaollao! I actually did not heard about it until i see several of my friends posting pictures of this frozen treat and was immediately tempted to try it for myself. As i was at Raffles City, i decided to head to the nearest outlet, which is the one at Marina Link, which was pretty hard to find but once you know where it is, its actually easy to walk there.I got the Sanum, which increased prices recently from $5+ to $6+. The thing i like about this is that you get to choose 2 toppings and also 1 sauce, which means you get to choose the kind of flavours and textures you want in your yoghurt. But that is also one thing i didn't like. Cause all the different flavours just throws off the ratio of yoghurt to toppings and soon you find yourself tasting more of the toppings than the yoghurt. Like it overwhelms the yoghurt. Anyway I think it was a pretty good deal until they decided to rise the price. …Read More

Sweets for You?
Mochi Sweets
2014-12-31
So my mum was craving for some mochi sweets and i decided to get some for her. I was also tempted to since they look so yummy in their display cases. Anyway i got a few different flavours and the shop assistant was nice enough to write it down on a thin sheet of paper which was later included in the box. This allowed customers to know which flavours they are actually chowing down later on.Anyway i quite liked the chewy consistency of the mochi sweets and they also had a little bit of filling in them. They are like a little than half the size of your palm. Not too sweet either so i think it wouldn't be a problem chowing down on these a few at a time. Will definitely return to try their other flavours!…Read More

Healthy Lunch Sets
Smoothie King
2014-12-31
Recently, Smoothie King rolled out lunch deals to attract the lunch crowd and so for a very a affordable price (considering it comes with a smoothie is quite value-for-money since a smoothie costs >$6), customers can choose between salad and wraps and a smoothie of their choice. So i got a grilled spicy chicken wrap along with a smoothie. Although it seems a little bit small, but its actually pretty filling if you drank it with the smoothie. The wrap is not too dry and it comes stuffed with a few lettuces. Overall i think it is not too bad and it wasn't too hard to eat either. (Some wraps are so big where you take one bite and the stuffings seems to just drop). Smoothie is great as usual! I love the smoothies at SK. It was quite quiet although its like 12+. Great place to chill and have lunch if you hate to squeeze with other office-goers during the lunch hour.…Read More

Ice Cream and Waffles
The Daily Scoop
2014-12-31
A few weeks ago, my friends and I wanted to try sunday folks, but they only open at 4pm on weekdays and so we headed to the next best alternative (in my opinion), the daily scoop. Its nice seeing the cutesy decorations adorning the wall at the HV outlet, as compared to the one at Sunset Way.Anyway i recommended to my friends Salted Mr Brown and Cookie Monster. Cookie monster is like the chocolate version of cookies and cream which i adore. Salted Mr Brown is salted caramel which i think is not too bad.We got it with waffles and so it was like heaven, savouring hot and cold at the same time. What better ways to cool ourselves down then with ice cream right? It came with chocolate sauce. I think customers can choose between chocolate and caramel sauce?…Read More

So-So breakfast food
MU Parlour
2014-12-31
So whilst walking around Holland Village, i decided to bring my friends to MU Parlour having heard many rave reviews about the place. It was a weekday afternoon and so there wasn't much people. They have several sofa chairs, and also some metal tables and chairs as well. There was a place for people to people-watch as well. I was hungry and so i ordered their breakfast food. Actually there wasn't much choices for me to choose from so i went for the breakfast food, which comes served with eggs benedict, sausage, bacon and salad. Which sounds like a very safe choice... not unless you like vinegar A LOT. There was a strong taste of vinegar amidst the eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce. Which i didn't fancy so i didn't finish it at all. I also wasn't too pleased with the service cause the staff forgot about the coffee my friend ordered and we had to remind them.On a brighter note, the place serves beautifully crafted desserts so while i may excuse myself from the main dishes, i may go for the desserts next time.…Read More

Awesome Seafood Pasta
Marché
2014-12-31
One evening my friends and I headed to Marche for dinner as our other option (Supply and Demand was fully booked and we had to wait till 9pm for a table). Though there was a queue at the restaurant, it moved pretty fast and so we only waited less than 30 minutes before we were seated.Once seated, my friends and I went to order food. We got drinks, seafood pasta in cream sauce, pizza and also calamari rings. The last one was mainly for me since i was craving for some fried finger food. Anyway i just have to gush about the pasta cause its really damnnnnn goooddddddd. OMG. I think its a perfect combination of seafood and cream sauce. My friends and I (4 of us in total) shared 2 bowls of pasta but i was so tempted to finish one all by myself. The pizza was also terrific! I love it! Their pizza never fail to make my tummy happy.  Calamari rings was so-so.. nothing much to rave about.…Read More

Maki-San
2014-12-31
I am a BIGGGG fan of Maki-San and when i started school in August, i cannot remember the number of times i have been there since. It's the perfect meal that can be ordered and prepared in a jiffy especially when you are in a hurry. And since its sliced into bite-sized portions, can be eaten in between tasks too.So one day i decided to give their fried maki a try. Having said that i am a big fan, it is not an understatement if i say their fried maki is terribly dry... I think the normal maki is worth having but not the fried version. It doesn't come with any sauce (i don't know why, maybe they are worried it will leak or something during the frying process) but they do provide the sauce in a little saucer.…Read More

BEST Ganache Ever
Rive Gauche Patisserie
2014-12-31
For my mum's birthday, my sister bought a cake from Rive Gauche, a chocolate cake at that. While i marvelled at the design, with something like gold glitters on the top, i thought i would just take a bite just for tasting. But when i took a bite, i liked it immediately. I am not a fan of chocolate cakes but the folks at RG did a fantastic job with the cake. It had several textures, like creamy chocolates and waffle biscuits and so the chocolate wasn't too overwhelming. Nor was it very sweet which suited me just fine.So for any of you out there who doesn't like chocolate cakes much, trust me, give the one at RG a try.…Read More

Cheesy corns!
Garrett Popcorn
2014-12-30
One of my greatest pasttimes is to snack, and one of my guilty pleasures is the cheese corn from Garrett's. Last time they only have like 1 outlet at Citylink Mall but now i can easily find them in Orchard, Sentosa and several other places. So one day whilst walking around Citylink i was instantly hooked by the strong aroma waffing in the air and so decided to grab a small bag of popcorn! I always get cheesecorn although i have other favourites like the chicago mix.I love the strong cheese flavour and though it always leaves me with yellow fingernails, i never fail to indulge in my favourite snack! …Read More

Truffles Galore
Palio
2014-12-30
So after our exams, my friends and I headed to RWS for a staycation and decided to try out this restaurant which my friend recommended. When we approached the restaurant, the staff seems to be dressed in oriental themed uniforms. But when i looked at the menu, it serves italian cuisine like pasta and pizzas. I ordered one of their signature pasta which my friend tried and shared that it tastes amazing. Before our main course we ordered the mushroom soup, and i have to say its like the most atas mushroom soup i have ever had. It was quite thick but super nice with a strong taste of truffles in it. I think it adds a lot of flavour to the mushroom soup. It also had little bread crumbs in it which i felt added texture to the soup.Shortly after came the main course. I ordered pasta and man i think it was the best pasta i have had in a long shot. It was super creamy and there was again the truffles and crayfish. So even though it was a lil' expensive, like $28 for one serving, it was still pretty worth it. But there was a little downside. Midway through the meal i got a little sick of the taste and so i didn't finished all of it. I did finish the pasta though. Great ambience though most of the guests seems to be dressed in t-shirts and shorts. Maybe cause its located in a hotel thus the attire. Anyway hotel guests get to enjoy a discount off their total bill which made the meal really worth it. The service was excellent too. Everyone is served at the same time.…Read More

Slappy Creations
Slappy Cakes
2014-12-30
I was in Sentosa with my friends when it poured heavily and so whilst looking for a place to have brunch and also seek shelter from the rain.So we saw Slappy Cakes and so we decided to give it a try. My friend likes to eat healthy so we got 2 kinds of batter, one is buttermilk, and the other is wholegrain. It comes in this squeeze-bottle for easy decoration on the hot plate. We also got some toppings, namely, lavender honey, crispy bacon and toasted almonds.Pancakes ready to be made! The butter and normal maple syrup comes automatically with every order of the pancake batter. My friends and I attempting to make some legible shapes from the ingredients we had. They also served other ala carte items such as sandwiches which you can order. Overall it was a very filling meal even though we only ordered 2 batters. …Read More

Yummy Korean Fare
I'm KIM Korean BBQ
2014-12-30
After our exams, my friends and I decided to head to I'm Kim Korean BBQ for dinner. As it was still quite early, like 6pm, we didnt have to wait long for a table. The only bad thing was that we had to leave before 7.30 as the restaurant is fully booked and so the table is reserved for other customers. Anyway my friends and I wasted no time digging in. There was several varieties of marinated meat available, chicken, beef and pork, including bacon. And they also have a lot of cooked food like potato wedges, Korean fried noodles, spicy rice cakes and soups. Overall it was a satisfying dinner with Korean pop songs playing in the background. Would definitely return again for another round of bbq!…Read More

Mentaiko Bread
Kabe no Ana - Shokutsu 10
2014-12-30
One day while strolling in JP, my mum and I decided to head to this new Japanese eatery at the newly-renovated Japanese Food Street. I was initially attracted to the array of pretty desserts before i took notice of the pasta. My mum and i ordered ala-carte items, and one set meal, which comes with mentaiko bread, salad and corn soup. Can I just say the mentaiko bread is to die for? IT. WAS. SO. NICE. I am not a fan of mentaiko nor have I eaten fish roe ever, and yet this was just so hard to resist! And luckily i didn't! My sis berated me for not trying their mentaiko pasta, which is like their signature dish. Anyway i ordered the potato and bacon pasta which i felt was pretty ordinary, nothing special. My mum had pasta in soy-based sauce. She doesn't like diary products so she got something non-cheesy. They have sets which comes with 2 slightly smaller portion mains for the price of 1. Which I believe is quite a good deal if you only have enough stomach capacity for 1 dish but can't make up your mind which to choose. Will return again for their mentaiko pasta and bread!…Read More

RAH-MEN
Chabuton
2014-12-30
One day i was craving for ramen, and so i pestered my sis for a ramen treat and so she gave in to the request. We were at 313@Somerset and initially i was looking for Ramen Play but since it seems to have moved or something, we settled for this place. It looks promising, with a queue and a full house to boot on a tuesday evening. We didnt wait long, I think its easier to get seats for 2 . Anyway once we are settled, we placed our orders. You can choose from a large variety of ramen, with different broths, and then add additional items to your meal, like eggs. The chabuton tonkatsu ramen is awesome! The broth, along with the spring onions, gives it a very fragrant taste. I highly recommend this to anyone who goes to this restaurant ever. Don't even think about trying anything else yet. I am not a fan of the char siew so i was mainly savouring the broth. The noodles were nice, qq ones.We ordered gyozas but they seem to forgot about it since it did not arrive until i asked about it at the end of the meal. The gyozas is slightly different in appearance but tasted pretty nice despite their lesser fillings.…Read More

Latest Ice Cream Fad
Honey Creme
2014-12-30
So after dinner one day with my sister, I decided to bring her to try Honey Creme, the looks-like-it-came-from-Korea-but-actually-originated-from-Taiwan, the latest fad to hit Singapore after Llaollao. But to give it credit its Korean-style soft serve ice cream. So weeks after its opening, THANKFULLY, there wasn't a very long queue. Since its christmas, i got the christmas reindeer edition, and although it looked great in pictures, it didnt turn out so great in reality. :( But not to worry, taste matters more right? This one came with mini-pretzels, large M&M and mini chocolate drops that made up Rudolph's face. HAHAAHHA. Anyway the first bite i was able to taste a hint of alcohol, and sure enough, its irish cream-flavour soft serve ice cream. Anyway they threw in some more pretzel bits and m&ms (or was it maltesers) and so it was a crunchy treat.…Read More
