Why I Want To Eat At I'm Kim
I'm KIM Korean BBQ
2014-10-31
As my friends and I went through the Hollywood like glamourous entrance of I'M KIM, I was greeted by their friendly staff and being showed to a table. Immediately they helped me turn on the hotplate at the table. Before I started, I was already being surrounded by the aroma and sizzling sound of barbecue meat.It was a weekday night, and I would say it is quite a good crowd for a Tuesday. I thought the food must be quite good to attract a sizeable crowd. I surveyed the choices presented before me... and decided to start with the appetizers and salad island.I took some watermelon, salad, corn and marinated squid. The watermelon I felt was really sweet and salad greens fresh and crunchy. I enjoyed the spicy squid which had a slightly tangy taste,  which I thought was very appetising. Then we took kimchi soup and the ginseng chicken soup. The kimchi soup is not too spicy and the ginseng soup tastes light and not too salty. Then I went on to the meat and vegetables section. I could not wait to start so I took a little of every kind of meat to cook. There is the volcano chicken (quite an interesting name), beef roll, beef short ribs, ribeye, bacon and pork belly. The beef roll and ribeye were the first to cook. I must say the ribeye is very well marinated and beef roll very soft and tender. The short ribs took a while but am pleasantly surprised by its flavour and I enjoyed how the meat comes off the small little bone. The volcano chicken is very tender and succulent. The bacon and pork belly took patience as the fat took time to be crisped. For people who enjoys pork lard in their char kway teow will find the fat tastes crispy and delightful when you let it fry under low heat till it turns lightly brown.I was being taught by the staff the way to eat the meat is to wrap it with a lettuce, pickle, garlic and chili. I am not a big fan of raw garlic but I tried it, and I find the combination with the korean sauce actually tastes refreshing.Just when I thought I was done, my friend and I saw people going for this particular section of the cooked food and realised the fried chicken wings were being snapped up quite quickly once they were out. So we waited for our chance... we managed to grab a few pieces when the wings just came out nice and hot, and we got hooked...At the end of the meal I was filled to my heart's content. I was so full but my friend had stomach for the dessert, an ice popsical which was a cool idea to finish a barbecue meal.Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the food. It is an ideal place for meat lovers. It is also a cool and hip place for friends to gather and catch up. And all of these only at $22++ for dinner for weekdays, $24++ for weekends. Lunch is at an even more affordable price at $18++ for weekdays, and students get to enjoy further discount when they present their student card.Well done I'M KIM! I will come back again soon!Must tries: Kimchi Soup, Signature Volcano Chicken, Beef Roll, Fried Chicken Wings, Short Ribs, Ginseng soup, Bacon, Ribeye, Pork Belly …Read More
