This is our first time having Pepper Lunch in a food court. There is a promotion for double beef rice at $6.90 which we think is cheap. All the meals come with a bowl of miso soup as well. We must say that the miso soup is good & tasted similar like those japanese restaurant miso soup. The preparation of the beef rice is pretty simple. The staff just need to put rice into the preheated hot plate & placed raw sliced beef around the rice & add some corn & drizzle with some sauce over. We just need

The staff just need to put rice into the preheated hot plate & placed raw sliced beef around the rice & add some corn & drizzle with some sauce over. We just need to let the beef cook on its own & turned them slightly till cooked on both sides. Thereafter, drizzle sauces (garlic sauce/honey sauce are available at the stall counter, self services) over the rice/meat & mix them till combined. The beef becomes very flavourful after the sauces are added, very tender beef slices ;) Love the rice with the corn niblets, adding a little crunch & enhanced the flavour of the rice. There are still many other set meals which we will like to try next time. Will definately be back again, thumbs up for the food

The salmon pepper rice costs $7.20. The price was previously $6.90 but had increased recently. The concept is very special. Raw salmon were placed around the rice and buttery corn and lots of pepper at the top, such is a simple yet heavenly combination! The plate is sizzling hot so diners can get to diy and cook their food while it is still hot and sizzling. I love to press the thinly sliced salmon flesh onto the hot sizzling place so that it will be "crisp" and it tastes better that way! Their

I tried out the salmon chicken pepper lunch and added the three toppings together - mushroom egg and cheese. All for 6.90 only . Cheap, right ?Initially I was afraid that the mushroom will not be cooked as the size is a little bit too bit and the sizzling does not stay there for too long. But nonetheless it is thoroughly cooked soon after . The cheese is also melted and coated the rice. . The cheese is also melted and coated the rice. The salmon, on the other hand was a little bit over cooked as it is cooked really easily and made it quite tough. Nonetheless, it still taste good.

The rice given is a little bit too much but because of the heavenly taste, i ate them all
.

The generous amount of ingredients made it worth the money you afford
.

The aunties there were really friendly and heartwarming as well !

Pepper Lunch's concept is this: rice, meat, on hot plate. Sauce you add yourself. Stir the dish yourself. Whether or not you enjoy Pepper lunch will depend on how much you like the taste of their selection of add it yourself sauces, and your tolerance for paying for the hot plate gimmick.

When you order your dish, it will come in a sizzling hot plate that will be surrounded by a paper wall warning you to be careful and providing instructions on how to eat your Pepper Lunch. Simply add the sauce and mix. The rich will usually come with stuff like corn or vegetables, and set meals come up with salads or drinks or whatever the special offer is at the time. The main course is rarely filling unless upsized (not value for money) or turned into a complete meal with sides and etcetera.

This outlet is a highlight of the Junction 8 food court, a frequent haunt of mine during my schooling years. Yet, this Pepper Lunch outlet pales in comparison to standalone Pepper Lunches, like the one at AMK Hub, which provide a better atmosphere for eating and chatting. This one is crowded, you have to bring it to the table yourself, and its not any cheaper. Oh well.
